Hi All,

I'm looking to pass on my current build (below) to my son whose old 955 rig on an 870 chipset is starting to show its age.

I'm thinking of a new 4770k based build in an R4 but have no idea on which main board or ram. Also, possibly an H105 ? Don't know if it will fit...

I was thinking a 250gb SSD, is the EVO still the one ?

I currently game at 1920x1200 but would like to go to 1440p. What's the ideal screen ? For a GPU I'm thinking a 290x or similar.

Budget isn't a huge issue, but I don't want to have to take out a loan either. What should I get ?

Thx

Just so you knwo the H105 won't fit the R4... I may sound a bit picky here but why spend a lot on a rig/case and not have a window? :)

The R4 is a lovely case but this Ronin is just as good and windowed. :)

The 1220 is cheaper than the h100 and just as good.

Went for a red theme.

I personally don't like MSI motherboards, so i went for a plain (black) gigabyte board instead ( i like gigabyte).

I'm just not a window bloke. More you're black obelisk type from 2001 movie. Quieter is good too.

I'm going to Reuse my WD Black as storage. Is the 290 man enough for BF4 with all the candy turned up ?

Fair enough.. I have a black box too but only because it sits the wrong side of me for a window. :)

Yeah, the 290 is more than 'man enough'

The difference between the 290 and the 290x is very little, not worth the extra money atall.

Something like this then: (i put the 330R in as an alternative to the R4, or a placeholder, upto you really).

Cheers !
I'll have a look at the 330. Does the 1220 fit in both the 330 and the R4 ? What's your view on the 350d ?

I think the R4 is the better case personally but there's no harm in looking. The P280 in the spec above is the only challenger to the R4 really but the styling is a bit different.

The 1220 is the sane as the h100i so will for both, yes!

The 350d is currently my favourite mATX case on the market, a lovely case though a bit pricey.
