Gaming chair/Office chair recommendations

I've been using and Ikea Markus Chair http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20103101/

For the last 5 odd years, really strong, sturdy and comfortable.

Well worth a look, you could also nip into your local ikea and try them out :)

A friend has same one as that.. Never tested to be honest, think I more than like the looks of gaming chair.. But the question is are they comfortable? Suppose I could send back if not or sell it on :) I'll be keeping my options open for now like

I agree with this guy. The Markus comes in comparison with other high end chairs and that say a lot. Look at listings of top recommended chair and you see the Markus pop up a lot.

Here it is in the same listing as the famous Herman Miller Aeron and Steelcase Leap. Check the voting out, the Markus isn't far behind. :D

yeah no doubt the Markus is a superb chair, but you know me by now shanks!! Always like different!! As said though my options are still open and ill continue to look, but for now I think the AK Racing gaming chair is my number one target

Another option is to buy one of the seat bases from HERE, then pick up a cheap seat (same make) from ebay.

And good idea that is!!

That's why I'm after quite a few options so I can put them in comparison with each other and pick out which one I'd find more suitable for my liking

The Aeron is outdated now - Herman Miller reps wouldn't try to sell you one unless you really wanted it even before the Aeron II was launched, preferring to push the cheaper Mirra instead. The Leap gets recommended sometimes but I didn't like it personally.

A second hand Mirra would be perfect if you can find it in your price range, or even if you have to go a bit above. Herman Miller chairs all come with 12-year transferrable warranties, so no Mirra is yet out of warranty.

There's better chairs than the Markus for £200

You can get the Mirra suggested above for £150 sometimes on ebay, can't be beaten for that price.

The reason the Markus is popular is because it's an Ikea product and easy to get your hands on for £125, not saying it's a bad chair, I've owned one and it was good for what it was but the Mirra is much more comfortable from my own experience.

Those car seat style chairs and executive style chairs look terrible for working/gaming at a computer.

Get a second hand herman miller from ebay, I bought an Aeron about 5 years ago, still going strong and can work all day comfortably.

I agree the Mirra will be much better. But the issue is not everyone wants to buy second hand. And even if you wanted it new you expecting to pay a lot of money.

The Markus is just to good at its price point. They really isn't anything bad about it.
