Having received my Oculus Rift I've been looking around for a gaming chair which allows me to mount a HOTAS setup for War Thunder, Elite Dangerous and the like. I've come up very short! It seems like there's nothing out there which fits the bill. Doesn't anybody know something I don't?

I personally have a pair of "TRIXES Ergonomic Armrest Mouse Pad / Mat with Clamp for Chair Arm or Desktop".
They're quite comfortable, however they do flex, unlike the suggestion from Why, which look ultra stable. Right now, my CH Hotas units are just sat on the front of the arms. I'm going to try the double sided velcro to see if that helps.

If I were going from scratch, think I'd go with the farnell solutions.

Oooh I like the look of those playseats although that's moving fully into the realm of flight sim geekery. I was hoping to stick with an office or gaming chair, but now that you've shown me those I'm not sure anything will match up. Problem is it doesn't look like its height adjustable, so I'm not sure whether it will be the right height for my Lian-Li DK-Q2 desk.

I think real challenge is finding or building a DIY chair solution that allows you to easily switch roles between gaming and office use without it looking stupid. This is where we need a commercial manufacturer imho.

What I think does help is utilising a pedestal mount for the joystick as it can be added and removed when needed IF you have a cut out in the seat cushion/base.

What about a couple of those IKEA laptop tables, remove the tops and add a 10kg plate weight for stability, seen it on a forum somewhere a while back.

edit: found said thread, tables are £15 each and height adjustable.

I've decided to go with a Wheel Stand Pro as it seemed like the best trade off since it means I can have a normal swivel chair. The Playseats looks great, but I don't like the idea of sitting in an immovable chair without much in the way of adjustment available to me.

........That plus my girlfriend would probably think I was mental!

This thread is great.

OP asks what gaming chair is best for hotas....answers are....none...build your own.

What's so great about that? It highlights what a crock of ultra s*17 gaming chairs are, nothing but marketing BSv that don't even accommodate what gamers' need!

I despair for this generation, they're soft as sh17e!
