Gaming dads

Yeah it was a blast at the start, do you still game with the rest?

Me, I pretty much just play R6 Siege and mainly all SP campaigns. None of the PVP survival games are any good, although sometimes I find myself going back to Ark for a few weeks.

Nah, all went our seperate gaming ways. I'm just into Apex for my MP fix atm, following on from PUBG, Scum, Dayz SA...still dip into Arma 3 Exile mod now and then.

I've mentioned this in the other thread about games that can be played for a short time. They're very child-friendly and are also great to chill-out with:

Farming Simulator 19
Astroneer
American Truck Simulator
Stardew Valley

I'd also forgotten about Cities: Skylines. Definitely have a look at some of these :)

My daughter is 8 now so I've got someone to play against/with which is awesome :)

When she was younger I'd play games like Civ, Xcom etc - turn based things mostly. Since she's grown up a bit we play rocket league, Slime Rancher, Two point hospital, Minecraft, Terarria, Human fall flat, astroneer, Lego marvel super heroes, Lego star wars etc.

I tend to play SP games when I'm parenting solo in the evening (one ear off etc). I only get time to play at night so we have an unspoken agreement that in the evenings after I've done dinner, Bath and bed the Mrs is on duty so I can game with mates. Every now and then if my daughter is ill it becomes a two man job, but at least with SP games you can pause and run off to sort things. MP games you can mostly get away with are rocket league (short rounds) or shooters where there's enough of you that you can bail without leaving them high and dry.

it gets much easier as they get older,

especially when you slap the taste out of their mouth at fifa or cod :)
younguns reflexes are no match for 30 years of hardcore gaming experience.

fired up UT99 in the office a few weeks ago and took great delight in whooping my boy and a few of fortnite loving friends at a proper fps :) next up quake
I used to need to give my son chances to beat me on FIFA and FPS games. Now it's him choosing the weaker teams and using me as target practice on Fortnite :( [He's 7 years old now]

I also fired up UT99 last week for the first time in about 16 years - oh the memories.

Another one here. Been gaming for 37 years or thereabouts.

My 7 year olds favourite game at the moment is Sunset Overdrive, 15 year olds is Sims.

Myself, whatever takes my fancy from my Steam library but the kids are now of an age where they don’t get in the way of my gaming habits. Far Cry 5 at present, will probably get into Kingdom Come Deliverance or the last Deus Ex that I picked up yesterday for £2.99.

The kids have had all the toys for years so I treated myself to a new PC 5 months ago. They’ll inherit the PC hand me downs. :)
