Gaming Graphics

I don't want too much realism, for the most part, the real world is pretty drab apart form tropical or heavy nature settings.

I like shiny, glossy, eye candy :D

Well Crysis looked SICk in DX9 mode and ran like butter using a pair of 7900 GTXs....

That guy is right though, having 4 8800 GTXs in SLI wont make the image quality better apart from maybe allowing you to go to some unheard of resolution on god's own cinema screen...

You can see that there is anti aliasing, by looking closely at the texture edges. Faint blurring can be seen - evidence of Anti Aliasing.
HDR is also clearly present so it is either a G80 or an X1000 series ATI card (most likely an X1950 XTX)

I would say that it is more likely that it is running there on a G80

It probally will, as in its recomended specs its says a 7800gtx or 1900xtx will work, and as the 7950gt is better than the 7800gtx it should play it pretty high.
It just goes to show how a well optimised game engine can create such great grpahics.

Well It was liquid smooth on a 7900 GTX when shown at E3 - that was at alpha stage....

They will have optimised it very well, this is no lousy port - this is being written for the PC and just for the PC.

All those rumours about needed a pair of 8800 GTXs are utter tosh

yeah they always used 1 8800gtx at the demo's where people could play them. even if they were a little low fps then, that was pretty much pre-alpha. so you cant complain.

as ive said in a different thread, the engine can be scaled very well on lower end cards, same with farcry.

They have said they want the game to be able to test even the highest level hardware.
With extra command line tweaks etc there will be further graphics features which have not been added to the ingame menu simply because nothing will be capable of it.
They say they will enable new features in later patches, and that the engine is capable of more, but that no computer currently available could cope with it.

However they have also said if you can run Far Cry maxed out you will have "no trouble" with Crysis.
Since I run Far Cry at 1280 X 1024 TOTALLY maxed out, with 4X AA and 8 X AF, and all the hidden command line options etc turned on (EXCEPT HDR, because it is badly optimised for the game) on MY rig - see my sig, Geforce 6800 vanilla! I dont think people with a 7900 GTX should worry :D

G80 will be able to do this game high settings no problem.
I reckon my current rig will be ok on low settings.
However I plan to upgrade my GPu over the summer :D
