Hi fellas, after doing some reading, I am in a better position to ask questions, so here is my second attempt...

I would like some open back (tried some closed back, didnt like that i couldnt hear my self - weird?) headphones for gaming only, must have a built in microphone, and I want these for positional audio.

The sennheiser 360 are a good option so I am led to believe, but a sound card is gna cost £60 (Xonar DX), which Almost doubles my budget!

Would the 360 be any good with onboard audio (Realtek 898), would the positional audio be possible? I could stretch the extra £30 if so.

Failing that any recommendations on a USB open back gaming headset sub £100
I say USB because I wouldn't need a sound card then, right?

No headphone amp on the Xonar DX, but it still sounded good with my Sennheiser PC 360s. I've never tried the PC 360s with onboard audio.

well i dont think i can find any open back USB headsets, apart from the plantronics 777, but not sure they are any good.

maybe i will just have to get the 360 and a sound card later?

is the headphone amp of any use? or is that just for "low spec" sound cards?

Anyone know of the Razer Tiamat is open or closed? from the pictures it looks like the drivers are visible, but thats obviously not an answer.

Hard to make decisions when you have nothing to compare!

Just do what I do... Buy it anyway :p

Probably not but if you don't buy it then you'll only have doubts about whether the shiny new headphones you bought are sounding as good as they could :P hehe
