For that budget, you are best off getting Speedlink Medusa headset.
Mine has lasted me a goood 2 years or so.... but has finally had enough of me drunkenly standing on them, so now it's time I'm getting some seinheisers :)

Yeah my medusa's lasted 6 weeks. One day they were fine and the next they refused to power up. Although they are really comfortable and i must admit paired with my bloated x-fi they sounded good. Wonder if i should bother phoning ocuk, probably tell me to phone speedlink knowing their customer service.

The icemat siberas are good. I previously had two pairs of medusas, and they both broke.

Sure these have been out for a while but they are very good. Tough cables, detachable at midpoint, and a directional mic that you can hook up to your shirt or whatever.

In my opinioin, medusas are dump.......build quality is poor to say the least.
Sound quality was inferior to my plantronics Audio 90's.

I returned them to Ocuk a 1 day later.....I just purchased an other pair of Plantronic Audio 90's. They were destroyed when some thief decided to take my system from my house. Since then it has been replaced and I purchased some Ice mat siberias. I was a little dubious about using a seperate mic. However it is fine as it clips onto my keyboard cable nicely. Sound quality is fine. The headphones themselves are particularly comfortable. Very light and enclose the ears superbly. The sound quality is great.

The Medusas get mixed reviews.....if you search these forums you will see that. I think it is down to peoples perception on what is good sound etc. I didn't happen to like them and was very dissappointed within minutes of plugging them in and Playing BF2. Others will tell you they are the best buy they have ever made.

Cheers

even if it is just for gaming i would recommend a seperate mic and some sennheisers. not sure which ones for under £40 tho. and dont get medusas, their build quality is so bad that they arnt worth considering. and surround sound is a gimmick. you can get better surround with software, like EAX.

I really like my Steelsound 5h's although many people say they break easy i've dropped mine loads of times with no probs at all and the sound is great for me at least.. the v2 ones are slightly over budget by a few quid but might be worth a check - plenty of reviews about for them.
