I use a pair of Sennheiser RS120 wireless headphones which I use for gaming. I used to be a fan of Sennheiser but this pair hasn't been as reliable as I was expecting... I've got a problem with one of the speakers not always working at certain volumes and you have to adjust the volume to a certain point where it will kick in.

Don't think I'll be buying Sennheiser again.

Icemat Siberias, are comfortable, inexpensive, have quality sound, light, widely available and they aren't closed aural.

I have a pair for gaming and a pair of akg k171s for music and movies.

no they are not

read my post again :p lol :D

so you broke yours? does that mean they are bad? :P

I had some and I liked them, gave them away in the end due to lack of use, but when the GF moves in I'll probably get another set.

I had some medusa 5.1 usb headphones, i really liked them despite the fact that i could never get the mic to work.

That was until i left them on the bed and the g/f sat on them and snapped one of the ear pieces off. Neither superglue or tape would make it feel the same as it was so they went in the bin. £50 down the drain after only 9 months :(

I have so far been unable to find a new decent set of 5.1 headphones with the mic, at least none that are a sensible price.

no i didnt break them, quality is pretty poor, and one of the speakers gave up eithin a month, stil luse them now, but they are carp

I do recall there was a period where they had a lesser build quality ... couple years back, mine were older and I have no idea if they are still used..

when did you get yours?

/me looks for receipt......... Cant find it

Medusas rocked, lasted me 2 and a bit years before one of the ear pieces broke off (they received quite a bit of punishment in the form of being dropped a lot)

I've got some Razer Barracudas now, they are good but I am getting interference. Not sure if it is the onboard 7.1 I have (most likely) or the headphones themselves.

personally having used around 4-5 pairs of "gaming" headphones i can only say that there all crap for the price you pay

now i use sennheiser HD595s and there 10x better than anything ive ever used before, even the 515s are better than the vast majority of "gaming" headphones

ive had:

medusas - absolute *****, worst pair of headphones ive ever had
sennheiser pc160s - uncomfortable, shoddy sound quality
icemats - ok but the quality and volume etc arent at all close to what i wanted
plantronics 90s - a long time ago but id class them under same things as the pc160s
and some crap logitech thing theres no point even talking about

good headphones ive used:
sennheiser HD515s + 595s both are REALLY comfy for long gaming sessions, good sound for knowing where an enemy is (ala cs) and would highly recommend

Medusa's are ace if only because they cause such a divide!!
I've got a pair of older ones (original breakout box) and they rock.
seems you either get a good set or rubbish set.

To the OP - I was going to ask you how you rated your new set compared to your Medusa's.... but since you don't rate them there would be no point!

Mr Bios, thanks for that

I really do want the HD 595's but

a) too expensive for me
2) no mic (no i dont want a desktop mic i have my reasons ;))

O for gods sake stop giving people advice about buying gaming headsets.......

The most recommended headphones for gaming are:

Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro (80ohm model)
Audio Technica A500/A700/A900

Gaming headsets are pants compared to properly designed heaphones from manufacturers that actually give a damn about reproducing the best sound quality.

Im using my grado's and altho they arn't ideal for gaming, i regard gaming headsets in the same league as apple ibuds. Get yourselves a decent pair of headphones recommended above and a desktop mic, then you will improve in those fps games like css, and generally enjoy your gaming experience much more.
