Hmmm some good feedback here :) Keep em coming, people agree on Mice being a necessity and Keyboards can be done without, Friends tell me that surface is important too???? Is this true??

A good mouse is definitely of benefit when gaming, but you can get away with just a basic MS optical mouse if you really wanted, that's all I used for ages before I got my first gaming sort of mouse (MX510).

I've always found that any old working keyboard will do for gaming, as long as it does work. I used to use a bog standard MS keyboard that cost only £6 or so without any problems whatsoever.

For gaming surfaces, the main things I like about mine (eXactMat) is the smooth minimal resistance surface (which helps mouse glide - no sudden jumps or bits getting stuck under it), the wrist rest (it just helps keep me a bit more comfortable which in turn lets me game for longer) and that a nice surface is easy to clean and keep free of debris. You can use the old desk or a piece of paper stuck down with cellotape if you really wanted though.

I always find that when I'm immersed in a game I don't notice or think about the mouse or the keyboard - as in no unsuspected interruptions - so maybe that's where the main benefit lies in getting yourself good gaming gear.

i agree with above poster gaming keyboards can be overkill however the mouse can be important, dependant on games being played + there more comfortable as a whole.

do you think buying a mousemat (gaming surface) is really worth it? honestlly?
i used to have one ages ago with my old "ball" mouse but since then ive had several optical mouses and havent seen the need for a mat, the tabletop works great on its own and also dosent get caught in the end of my sleeve like my mat used to do, unless im missing something here i think mats are a waste of money and people only still use them on opticals/lasers due to them once-upon-a-time being nessicary on ball mouses.

Don't buy a Laser sensor mouse make sure it's optical.

High sensitivity player = Hard Mouse Pad + Normal size
Low sensitivity player = Soft mouse pad + HUGE size

Mousemats make all the difference in the world Mr freeman

Logitech Media Elite Keyboard and a oh LOGITECH G7 mouse
here :P. I have a G9 too but I hate it, feels like a failed grope when holding it.

I think its a shame that they don't make the G7 anymore. I'll be hunting on the MM and other second hand stores to get another one if mine ever breaks again. I've found no other wireless mouse that just works and feels as comfortable as it.
