I've been thinking about upgrading my keyboard to a gaming one but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for.

I've looked at the Cyborg & Logitech range, but the difference between mechanical & your standard membrane one is not something I know about.

Budget is £40-50

So mechanical or not???

Any recommendations?

Thanks :D

Mechanical if you want a typing feel akin to a old typewriter and loud clacks when you press the keys. Not sure what makes them better for gaming as I've never used one.

Saitek Cyborg V5 is a decent 'board, not mechanical but still a solid choice.

So how do I get advise on somthing which OCUK don't sell?

Can I name the keyboards at least? You sell other MS hardware.

Your allowed to name the keyboards ofc and ask for advice on ones OcUK don't sell. I use the Members Market to reference for 2nd hand costs.

Makes Sense:

Ok, so anyideas to the following or alternative:

Microsoft Sidewinder X4/6
Cyborg V5

Is there really a difference between mechanical & membrane keyboards?? (apart from the noise)
Would you notice an in-game difference?

Having never used a mech keyboard I can't say this for sure but from reading some reviews and user experiences mech keyboards are a lot snappier and less heavy on the hand, they are also more reliable because they are mech.

that one looks awesome!!
£50 is quite a lot for something i don't need though.... are there any similar keyboards with a gaming section for cheaper?

Maybe, but more like an MMO keyboard. Need a well rated, possibly cheap one for FPS mainly.

Might just look at the MS Sidewinder x4. Neat, compact and has good reviews.

What kind of gaming? Not all mechanical are clicky btw and they **** on rubber dome boards, with your budget if you could stretch a bit I would suggest the tt esport meka with mx blacks, they don't click like blues and are usually used for fps gaming.

It's mainly FPS, Dead Island, MW3 and Generals 2 when it comes out. I've been looking at this one, but need some feedback based on people actually using it:

I love the layout and the specs are just what I'm after. Cable management & USB port.

I just grabbed one of these badboys the other day with my new PC.

I thought it seemed a lot too (even with a tenner off on offer last week), but now I have it, I dont think I will be going back to non-mechanical any time soon. I like the stealth look as well, so people don't think I have dropped 70 quid on a keyboard :)
I noticed there have also been the other coloured switches added to the same board now.
