Yes. The only way to find out what is best for you is to try it. Some people cant double tap fast enough but unfortunately (or fortunately) for me, I can with ease.
You may actually find that the popular, blues, reds and browns are way to light. Straight away, I rested my hand on the widows keys and they were already half way down. Luckily, this actually taught my hand to relax more which is better for me but you may find irritating and not want to change your habits!
There are quite a few mainstream retailers who have only a few mechanical keyboards, but you can still try them out!

Sorry for being extra thick when u get a keyboard say QPAD MK-80 for example, it comes with only 1 set of switches right blues? You dont get a bunch of other keys to interchange to ie browns or you could but you would have to buy an entirely different set right?

Mechanical keyboards come with a set switch color, they aren't replaceable without soldering which in turn voids your warranty. So you need to decide on the switch before you buy hence the reason to go to a shop and test them out.

Yes. All the keyboards I have listed only come with one set of keys that are preinstalled. Almost all of them have the switches soldered so youd have to buy 120+ switches and solder those on.
I think I read somewhere that there is a different switch installation where solder isnt required but I dont think any "gamer" ones have that implemented.
If you wanted to change keys, youd either have to desolder and solder or get a new keyboard

Haha, didnt notice youve been using a Dell keyboard. I am aswell, but ive held off mechanical keyboards as Ive got a build that needs finishing.
I would personally recommend you stay away from the Razer BlackWidow. Ive seen countless complaints of the build quality (obviously) and the keys often grind against others causing multiple keys to go down if you just press one down.

Maybe I misread his post. Thought he would go for £100+ for backlighting. Don't think you can find a backlit keyboard for less than £70 - £80

Not a problem, we are all here for the same reason. Helping this guy find a great keyboard for the money. Yup for the budget I think the CM storm quickfire will fit perfectly.

I had seen QPAD MK-80 going for around £85. very tempted now. Blues switches.

Optimoser - ta very much another great candidate CM. Blues for me i think :D
