hi there lads basically my keyboard is becoming abit worn and the odd key is now broken and was looking at some new keyboards, i have always gone for a cheap option as i never saw the point in an expensive one.

I game a lot probally to much and was wondering if any of you thought possibly the logitech g11 or possibly a razer arctosa where worth it, i like the idea of illuminated keys but was wondering if the extra keys are worth it. I use my pc for lots of things but mostly gaming and wondered what i could actually ues these keys for in rts/fps games could i use it for building like 5 buildings instantly at the start etc or what.

so basically just wanting to know what the benefits of the extra programmable keys are and also what keyboard you would go for between the g11 or razer arctosa or if its worth it possibly buy the upgraded versions

thanks for the time lads much appriciated

Ben

Personally I don't really use the macro keys on my Sidewinder but I use the media keys all the time, so handy for changing track when you're playing a game, likewise with play/pause/mute etc.

The programmable keys are best suited in games where you repeat certain key combinations, these can be condensed into a single key press with use of macros.

With regards to which keyboard, I favour Logitech over Razer any day with Microsoft being my personal preference after having owned products from all 3.

Im quite happy with the Microsoft Sidewinder X6 keyboard.

Especially when I turn the the number pad into a macro pad :)

hmm decisions decisions, cant really afford to pay £120 for a keyboard loooking for more like £50ish what are the saitek keyboards like they any good or stick to the logitech etc.

tempted to buy either the g11 or g15 wat differences are they between them... ill have a quick browse now

the saitek is a good keyboard i never had any problems with it and it looks funky at nite with the colour changes you can do from red-purple and blue plus you can turn them off dim them,if you want to do macros tho then the logitech be better depends what games you play..i never had a problem binding keys on it...

Saitek Eclipse II?

Had mine about 2 weeks now and so far it's been great. Wrist rest has 4 adjustable options (including taking it off) and there are 3 height adjustments.

I've had mine for about 2 years, and I echo this sentiment. Of course, if you want macro keys, you'll have to look elsewhere, but other than that it's a good, solid gaming keyboard.

Ive had logitech g11, g15, g15v2, Saitek eclipse and now atm have a microsoft sidewinderx6. The problem i had with the logitechs is the key action is just not up to par, the ctrl and shift keys feel a bit wobbly and clunky.

The sidewinder x6 is the best bar far for me. i dont need lcds on my keyb as i have 2 screens.

Massive +1

Never been as satisfied with a keyboard and mouse combo as much as I am now with the Sidewinder mouse and X6 :D

Microsoft make very high quality products that will last a long time!
