Hello, forum fellows, I'm about to build my 3rd gaming rig, one that will be ultra-portable, including lan parties and airport and such, and I realized that I need your help/expertize.

My build will look something like this:

MB: Asus Maximus VI Impact
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
Cooler: Deepcool Gamer Storm Gabriel
SSD: 2x Intel SSD 180GB S-ATA 3
RAM: 16GB 2x Avexir Core Series 8GB DDR3 1600mhz 1.5v Blue led
VGA: Asus GTX 760 Direct CU II Mini
Case: Lian LI PC-TU100
PSU: Silverstone SFX Strider 450W Gold modular supply + modular slim cables
+ peripherals

Now, my already bought components are the ones in Bold.

I found the PSU on oc uk and cable set but no trace of the GPU, case, and cooler.
Now could you guys recommend/suggest whether there's a better cooler that will fit in such a tiny case and with the Maximus Impact Mobo?
also, where can I find the cheapest msi 760 mini or asus 760 mini,
and where I could order my case from.

Also , if you should bring about any other suggestion of case/psu/gpu/cooler that will be very small and easy to carry around (i would have even considered EVGA Hadron Air if it had a handle (I don't reckon it's that much bigger).
So if I should change the case, the whole psu/gpu/cooler scenario changes as well.

Please advise!

Hi,

Regarding your question about where to buy certain parts from. Competitor links and hinting etc are not allowed, so if OcUK do not stock what you are after then you can try the "new product" suggestion section in the customer service forum or do your own homework.

You can order everything from OcUK?

Overclockers are probably the best for customer service, returns and RMA's.

Prices can be hit and miss depending on where you look, but if you have a problem, I'd rather have bought from OcUK.

Great, I have found the case on OC UK too! So if I give up on Gamer Storm Gabriel and choose axp 100 or samuel 17 over it (any suggestions that fit on impact and have maximum height of 60mm (with fan!) are great), I can buy everything of OC UK!
YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone Strider SFX Gold 450w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply (SST-ST45SF-G) £79.99
1 x Lian Li PC-TU100B Mini-ITX Cube - Black £71.99

Good.

So far, changed my i5 4670k for i7 4770k which apparently goes on 4.4ghz on 1.25 (not that shabby, considering how crappy haswell chips usually are).
Small issue is that I get 55 error code on impact (memory not installed) although it is and I don't know why.

Am still wondering whether I should get the AXP 100 (will it work over the ram and daughterboards?)

Thirdly, I would love to get a CLC (h60, or any other for that matter) but I don't know well the airport restrictions with ryanair/wizzair/blueair for instance.

And if I would consider changing the Case from Lian Li PC-TU100 to PC-TU200B, PSU would be full, better wattage/efficiency, and thus GPU would be full as well and I may be able to throw myself over a gtx 780 or wait for the new GPU launch in the summer.

Amongst the recommendations that I received, I haven't seen any in real life so don't know which would fit just fine as hand luggage and would be small and lightweight enough, also would prefer the ones with a handle or for instance the Hadron seems ok'ish.

Hey guys!

Just got the Prolimatech Samuel 17 for cooler, and am considering between MSI GTX 760 Gaming ITX and Asus GTX 760 DirectCU Mini GPU's, seems like I'm going mentally ITX style.

Wish I were able to order along with the 450w silverstone PSU and Lian LI PC-TU100B also the green venom avexir ram 16GB, but they are no longer in stock.

Speaking of which, will a 450W gold SFX psu suffice for 760 mini and 4770k, 2x8gb ram and 2x ssd's?
The 4770k might only be OC'ed to 4.2 ghz.

Nearly all done!
My components have arrived, just need my GTX 760 Mini shipped and it's an extremely powerful computer for its size and weight!

I'll leave you have a look at pics for it, might be some others of my other rigs as well, just ignore them.

Bought a 22" slightly portable monitor as well which fits in my backpack along with keyb, mouse, mousepad, headphones and cables!

Overall, including the GPU, the system will weigh exactly 5KG (one 5L bottle of water)

Enjoy the pictures and I'll be waiting for opinions and questions :)

I still need the short cable set from Silverstone, but otherwise my rig's complete and pretty powerful for its size too! can't make it more performant tbh..

Changed one of the ssds with 1x 1tb 2.5 hard drive
Due to the gpu, it's reaching really high temps... such as in gaming I've had the hdd reaching 58C, gpu 82c cpu 80c.... Using Prolimatech Samuel 17 as cooler with a slim prolimatech 120mm vent.

Thinking of buying this:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone SST-PP05-E Short Cable Set For SilverStone PSU Strider Series 100% Modular £16.99
Total : £22.97 (includes shipping : £4.98).

And what else can I do to keep temps down? Has anyone put a decent priced AIO watercooling in Lian Li PC TU100?

Adding an AIO into a case with only 1 intake and using it's 80mm fan on the PSU as it's only exhaust is only going to make it get hotter!
Aluminium acts like a heatsink, but it's also a bad material for SFF cases that have builds in them that put out a lot of heat and have limited airflow.

The 3 most effective things you can do to get temps down in this case is:

1. Flip the fan on the CPU cooler to pull air off it and into the PSU fan.
This will help exhaust some of the heat.

2. Replace the Stock 120mm Lian-li front intake fan that with one that moves air.

3. Add another 120mm / 140mm intake into the bottom of the case. This will by far have the best effect on temps in this case.
The 760 mini is exhausting hot air but it's also starved for cool air, adding another intake at the bottom gets more cool air where it's needed the most and creates much better positive pressure into the case to help get that hot air out faster.
Easy to double sided scotch tape your drives into other parts of the case.

it's actually flipped at the moment
i don't have the skills or tools to craft a hole in the bottom.

You've got it flipped the right way now, that should make it a wee bit cooler at least.

If you don't want to / can't mod the case with another intake, I'd recommend you replace the front lian-li fan with something better and get those drives away from underneath the 760 mini to get more air to it.

As I stated previously, it's easy to use double sided scotch tape to stick those drives anywhere you want in the case and it's perfectly safe.
