Gaming monitor with decent blacks... Happy medium?

Hello all,

I'm looking at getting a new 27" monitor, freesync to go with my Vega 64 as I'm fed up of screen tearing. I've been leaning towards the LG 27GL850, but aware of the blacks issue in dark rooms. Is it really a big deal? I'll be using mainly for gaming but also photo editing, so need something with good colours. I don't really game in the dark, is that the only time where I'd notice an issue with the black levels? Any other monitors worth considering? Do you fferent panel types? I've been using a Dell 2408 and Dell 3012, which has just died. Gaming mainly FPSs, but also rpg, rts etc...

You need colour accuracy for photo editing so you going to have to go with an IPS panel, but it's a lottery as to how bad your blb will be, I've used a few IPS screens and never seen blb as a problem, it's only really in a dark room with the lights off on a very dark gaming scene where you would notice it.
