GAMING MOUSE - SUGGESTIONS?

If only i could replace my old Intelli Explorer 3.0 the best mouse ever made.

Old school here still, I use the old Intellimouse v3.0 and I'm dreading the day it breaks although I'm gaming far less than I used to, the mouse has been transferred through 3 computers so far which for the money makes it probably my best computing purchase ever. I've also used the black version of the Intellimouse in the picture that Imy provided and that was ok but just not as comfortable.

I'm using an MX1000 at work(total waste of a nice mouse) and it seems pretty decent so I might get one for home use.

Mx1000

Had the G7 but missed the extra thumb buttons in game so got the MX1000 back instead, plus the G7 wireless seemed to interfere with my Linksys router signal!!!

I'd choose the MX518 over the G5 (had both), the lack of the extra side button is very annoying and I certainly wouldn't get used to it like someone else said they did.

That extra button was always helpful in game too. The "teflon" feet that the G5 mouse already has when you buy it, which is meant to get rid of "sticky" aftermarket solutions are NOT as smooth as hyperglides (I've tried, and I don't even see why the pads have to cover such a huge amount of space on the G5).

The texture on the top of the G5 feels metallic (well grainy... feels like it doesn't grip well psychologically).

If you're a bit of a nutcase like me then the weights you get with the G5 will just add to the ever inceasing variables you must perfect to get perfect aim.

The MX518 goes upto 1600 DPI - don't even see the need an extra 400/500 will make.

That Logitech G5 special edition looks good:

I'm not sure if it's real of fake though - anyone know?

Just as an update I went looking for the MX1000 or even the MX610 and couldn't find them so I bought a G7, nice mouse and seems pretty comfortable from my brief use so far, damn expensive mind.

i have the g5, dont like it much :( i find that the material around the sides are a bit rough, plus the thing is pretty heavy compared to my old microsoft optical, even without any weights. might just take time to get used it

and the weel click is pretty hard. is it the same with the g7

I have two razers - Cameleon and Plasma - the camel in work and the plasma for home.

I like the lightness of them and the very low level.

MX510, switched to this from a Razer Diamondback.
I can honestly say i would never go back,
but its all about personal preference, the MX510 fit my hand a lot more snugly than the Diamondback and i found the buttons more easily accessible

I've just found a fault with my MX510. The paint on the logo is starting to rub off and you can see silver around the edges :(

It's still a great mouse though. I wonder if Logitech will send me a replacement?

Started with an MX700, great at the time.
Moved to a MX1000, a good mouse, but mainly for workstation type functions - now use it at work.

Then bought a Razer Copperhead, it was too small for my hand, thumb buttons in wrong place, gave me cramp after an hour.

Then bought a MX518 - a great mouse, good for the money, no faults.

Then got a G7 for my birthday - Another great mouse, accuracy is the best I've seen. BUT, my hand on the plastic gets very sweaty in this weather (it needs a rubber type grip like the MX518/MX1000) , and the battery life is totally crap, it only lasts about a day. You constantly have to switch batteries.

Had a MX1000 and now have a G7. Both of them are excellent, although the changeable batteries of the G7 means that I never have to remember to charge the mouse :)

Couldn't go back to a wired mouse now.

Logitech G7 Limited edition carbon fibre is the dogs.

Love it. I have just got one in place of my g5. Much prefer the G7 lol.

and no lag, love it.

That and a S&S mouse pad = :D
