My trusty Steelseries mousemat has become so grimey that it's actually stopping my mouse moving properly (that's the only reason I keep getting killed in TF2)

I had an Icemat glass one before that I didn't like at all but I loved the soft Steelseries one. Never had a Razer one (to go with my Razer mouse). Would a Razer mouse really be better on a Razer mat?

Anyone recommend a mat for Gaming? Does it even make much difference (I find the marketing blurb a bit hard to believe).

Cheers.

a high quality mouse matt does make a difference
they bassically allow the mouse to move smoother with less friction
which in turn helps to make it more accurate in games
as for which one to choose thats all done to price your willing to pay and the size of the mouse matt you wish to use.

I have an old razer mat it its great i love it! It really depends on whether you are after speed or control as they have different types of mat to suit these requirements. I cant fault them though

I use a Razer Mantis Speed.

Mainly got it for the size, but it's a decent mat, although it is fraying at the edges a little after nearly a year of use.

Razer exactmat is fantastic, would do well as body armour from incoming taliban shells too, so multi use +1 ;)

I don't mind splashing out on a decent mat but unfortunately the slide drawer on my desk is tiny. My SteelSeries is 32cm x 27cm and it's almost perfect size, it actually overlaps a tiny bit.

If the measurements are right, those Razer mats are MASSIVE. Must be nearly the size of my keyboard! I'd have to cut it in half . . . although, then I'd have two of them.

Anyone know if you can cut a Razer mat without destroying it? Like would it fray where it was cut? bizarre question I know. ;)

I use a Everglide Titan GamingMat which has been very good, instead of cutting it due to lack of space I just have part of it under the keyboard.

it does slightly it all depends on your keyboard
i have a fairley small keyboard which i use when not gaming
and have a cyber snipa gaming keypad for when i am gaming
i just move main keyboard to desktop just above my keyboard shelve

I was a bit dubious but I have to say, it makes such a difference. I got the razer mantis speed mat and it just feels incredible. Not just so fast but also the control, it's amazing.

Razer Destructor is the best mat I've ever used, ive previously used exactmat, qpad masterpad, the new exactmat (both sides which a g5 didnt respond on the control side) and some other random soft ones. I find the destructor a good balance between soft and hard (soft uderside so it still has a bit of padding) and a hard top (gun metal coated) which has increased the precision of my G5 rev 2 and it moves SOOOOOOO nicely compared to the other mats.

Ive been using a Razer eXact Mat since they came out pretty much. Had no issues at all, although the silver edge at the bootom, where my wrist goes. Is starting to look tatty. But i game a lot, and as i said, its years old.
Ive always used it on speed side tbh, but has the control side if u need it.

Just measured mine, its 330mm x 260mm. Looking at it, i think its one piece of ally, with the surface materials bonded on to it. So i guess u could try and trim the size a bit. Id say maybe 10mm off top and bottom, and 10mm of either side. Bringing it to around 310mm x 240mm. Anymone and youd start to infringe on the rubber feet. Ofc this will make it look a bit odd, as it will no longer have the ally strip round the edge :)
You could always totally recut the thing, and use new rubber feet. But imo better off just buying a better suite mat for the effort. But its always an option.

HIGHLY recommend this. Even though it is classed as a "mini" mat, I find it's the same size as "normal" mousemats at work (tiny bit smaller than A4). I have more then enough room to get one of those massive ones, but this one is ample enough, looks class and is cloth :) (you said you dont like glass?)
