Hi all, this is my first time building a PC, specifically a gaming PC. I'd like to build it myself, so advice and tips would be great.

Now the difficult part,I have no idea where to start.

I was very much the same as you and with a similar budget to start. You have done the best thing by coming on here, there are lots of helpful and knowledgeable contributors and I found buying from OCUK to be a very good experience.

Regarding the build I too had never built a system but with the correct advice and right parts it was relatively easy to do. I watched a lot of you tube videos first.

It would help if you give an idea of what you need i.e, monitor, mouse, keyboard, operating system, speakers or do you just need a base unit? What sort of games would you like to play also?

Tbh, 500£ for a totally new build with accessories and OS is not really realistic unless you go second hand.

Save another 2-300£ and come back. Operating system is £80 odd on its own before you get started.

You could do it, but your specs wouldn't be worthwhile imo

You'll find a few b grade items on website, but not masses. You don't get access to members market till you've got 1000 posts and been a member for over a year. iirc

Ebay and Amazon would be good places to have a search no? I mean I could compromise and get a second hand case and monitor etc because I'm not obsessive about that sort of stuff right now - my priorities are about what's inside.
