A friend of mine after many years of saying he will be getting a gaming PC has finally put up £550 for one.

He for now will only need the base unit with intention to run these games

Fifa
Football Manager
Total War series
Flight simulator games
Heart Of Iron series

No he already purchased Windows 7 long time ago when there was deals on web for £35 thinking it would go on his very old laptop.

I am loaning him a monitor/mouse/keyboard for time being.

I came up with almost the exact same spec before seeing you beat me to it. This is what I would go for a gaming machine with a budget of £550.

Yes the will be as I dont see a gfx card listed above, only the CPU's built-in gfx.

OK that's a shame looking at separate prices for those parts that bundle did look very good price

I spoke to him and he said he may be able to add bit more so £550-650 budget now for just base unit if that will make a difference.

Didn't Gigabyte and Ballistix RAM have compatibility problems?

Also I think you could squeeze an 8320 into that AMD one, but that 4670k one I would prefer personally

Indeed, though I thought running it at 2000 would be fine for the same price as a 1600 kit. Never knew about the tighter latencies being preferred by amd though :D
