I am currently a student who is trying to build a computer that I can use for all of my work including video editing/graphics and I would also like to be able to play games on High Settings such as Battlefield, Skyrim etc.

Essentially I would like a fairly fancy looking case that is easy for me to use to build the computer as I'm not an expert.

Ideally I would like at minimum 16GB Ramn and an Intel I7 processor however I am more than willing to compromise on the graphics card as that can be updated at a later time.

Realistically I would like to spend £800 but can go higher to the £1000 mark if need be. Thanks!

X99 6-core better in the long run, although it doesn't leave much for a nice GPU to begin with. Then again, since you say you're more than willing to compromise on GPU and if you're planning on a really nice one in the near future, might as well not spend more on something mid-range just now, especially if it means sacrificing CPU power. I suppose another positive for taking this route is that new GPUs are on their way in just a few months.

The case should be easy to build in, and has a PSU compartment to tuck all the excess cables in, with holes in the right places to pass through cables that go on the bottom edge of the motherboard. Gray/black/white versions available too.

As a student you might be able to get Windows cheaper.

Thanks a lot! I am definitely considering this build I just wanted to know more information in regards to the graphics card. How good is the 750ti as a starting graphics card before upgrading to something more powerful in the future?

Look up videos showing the 750Ti running games you're interested in, and see if you'd be happy with the fps and graphics level for the time you'd have it before you upgrade. You won't get 60 fps running on High graphics in demanding games that's for sure. But I don't think there's any game that wouldn't give you 60 fps if you tweak the settings enough.

I just saw this deal. Would this not be better as I do not have to buy the ram or CPU cooler? Also, I have found cheaper motherboards just wondering what benefits the X99-SLI has.

And without sounding picky, I was looking for a black case with a side window so that I can add LED lights at a later date. So to confirm my budget is around £1000 and I don't need Windows 7.

Also, do I need to order any extra parts to put it together safely or do OC provide a build it type service where they can build it before dispatch?

That bundle is £6 cheaper than getting the motherboard+CPU combo plus the RAM and cooler individually:

Personally, I wouldn't go for that cooler as; while mostly fine for most four core CPUs; it can limit the maximum overclock of a six core 5820K.

The RAM is slower (not a biggie).

According to OcUK staff (when they are asked what happens to CPUs that don't cut the mustard for an extreme overclocked system), binned chips that aren't of sufficent grade for higher overclocked systems, are among the ones that go into lesser overclocked systems (like that 3.8GHz system). That's fine if the customer is satisfied with getting that speed. But others (like me) won't be interested as the chances of landing a great 4.5GHz 5820K are arguably decreased.

I did mention there is a black version of the case I suggested. It also has a side window. Check out the Phanteks/Corsair/NZXT cases too.

With my spec, you wouldn't need anything other than a regular screwdriver.

OcUK do provide custom build service, for a fee. If you'd prefer that, contact them (I would do it through the Customer Service forum but you can call or send a webnote as well) for a quote.

1. 120GB SSD instead of 240GB SSD. I'd recommend 240GB minimum for Windows/programs/video editing work.

2. Very basic cooler. Can't imagine overclocking much beyond default with it.

3. Slightly slower RAM.

4. Lesser quality PSU.

5. Same graphics (same card).

6. No Windows and no free shipping (would bring it to £1006 with Windows, just to compare). Does include build fee though. But with Windows not needed, there's plenty left over in the budget for the build fee for my spec.

Reason the video card is not included is so that you can ask OcUK for a quote, and once you know the quote, you can use the remainder of the budget to include a slightly better video card than a 750Ti. Maybe an R9 380 if you're lucky.

If you built it yourself, you could get an R9 380X. Or a second-hand R9 290, etc.

And a Toshiba hard drive? What the frig man... You have no idea what you are doing whatsoever. Except the power supply. That's a great power supply.

Perhaps you'd put play before work, or maybe you didn't read carefully, but the OP has made it clear in his first post that his focus right now is the video editing for his work, and that he's willing to compromise on the GPU as that can be updated.

I specced according to what I understood his needs to be. And explained my suggestions. When he upgrades the card he'll have a very nice system for both gaming and video editing.

Clearly you also haven't been following the rest of the thread carefully either, as the OP does not need Windows and so can get a better video card, especially if he builds himself.
