Gaming pc (future proof) gpu in hand

I live in York. I had my account signed in etc but no eligible free next day delivery was available?

Money has been taken but no order email confirmation, or shipping email etc. Order only visible in my account and just says in progress but not yet dispatched. As stated, bit disappointing of ocuk.

Dratz!! I believe I had not done that. Hopefully I can request a P&P refund in the morning once customer services resume.
Yes I can imagine things being manic and upside down, awful times for everyone. Hopefully after speaking to them in the morning they will be able to chase the order up and get it dispatched for Wednesday delivery.

Thanks Plec, once again your knowledge and wisdom has been great. You shall be rewarded in heaven :D

You have a couple of avenues you could pursue.
  • 2/3 days delay in despatch is usually sufficient evidence to get your postage refunded, if they had the stock on ordering (i would lead with this).
  • Membership Entitlement - they could give you credit, as a sign of goodwill as the order was significant. But, I would pursue a cash refund due to unreasonable delay first. The guys in the customer service forum are usually really accommodating - especially if you're civil (such as yourself) and explain everything succinctly so they can act on it quickly without added confusion.

Not sure who would be the more surprised - me or God...

...it would be me (i would have to source a fake membership card). :D

with your vast pc knowledge I fail to doubt you in your fraudulent I.D skills :D

little update, all shipped and postage refunded :D tomorrow can’t come soon enough!

Will the Haribo survive until then?

haha, the haribo didn’t survive that initial post let alone the weekend :D

[/QUOTE= Just realised.. MASTER ? How did that slip in there ?[/QUOTE]

I thought, I’m only doing it once (for now, haha) might as well get one of the better ones :D
Even the box is beautiful!
The weekend cannot come quick enough, although the fear and dread of actually putting it together is quite daunting.

@Plec @orbitalwalsh what’s the easiest way of getting a windows key and windows 10 pro on a usb? I got a 128gb usb stick today :)

I have to be careful about site naming because of forum rules - but they turn up on auction sites frequently. There's always a risk with grey market keys but when they're only ~£5 it's not the biggest risk. There are other sites with reputed sellers/and guarantees if key fails etc (more expensive) - and are easily found (i've used a site that sounds like penguin in the past and all keys have worked.). Even if a key were to expire after 2 years you're still quids in if you rinse and repeat a few times - but i haven't had a key fail yet...

To make the install USB use the Downoad Tool here - Clicky - choose the creating a bootable USB device option once you've downloaded the Tool and executed it.

thanks so much as always :D

going to start tonight after work, how much thermal paste should be applied to the cpu cooler? :) (if none applied already)

@Plec

do I have the fans in the correct orientation with the motherboard? The way I have positioned them the fan point upwards towards the top of the case.

also, do I need to use the supplied low noise adaptor cables :) TIA

I can’t emphasise how much I appreciate your time (even more so within a team meeting!!!)

ram wise, do I install them in alternate slots (2 modules...A2 &B2)?

It was going all so well, until you mentioned front header cables :D

I am swamped in cables in what seems like spaghetti junction.

I have ten fold of cables that come with The PSU (these seem quite self explanatory)

but the extra cables that came with the motherboard are the ones that remain the mystery :D that and I can’t find the screws to screw the motherboard to the case...

I would happily PayPal gift over to you @Plec :D the time you have given up to constantly reply is phenomenal! I think I need a beer and to re visit this in the morning haha (a bit of swatting up)

again, I thank you, and everyone else (@orbitalwash) for your kindness. Please bear with me this weekend :D

Good morning all :D

I have been at it for the past hour (maybe made 0.1% progress!)

so far I have connected up some of the header cables, see below (this didn’t click in place, just slots.....)

connected the hd audio, see below

however, I am stuck with these cables that I have no idea what they do nor where they go! The motherboard instruction leaflet is very vague! 3 of these....

1 of these (maybe usb? Do I need to connect?)

2 of these? (Sata? Need to connect?)

I
thank you in advance :D

ps, will my cpu/cpu cooler be okay after rotating it last night? I obviously applied the thermal paste but then removed the cooler to rotate (the thermal paste was spread lovely and thin all over the cpu without excess but then just reapplied the cpu cooler without wiping off the thermal paste and re applying (I presumed because it was fresh paste it would still spread sufficiently without causing air gaps?)

Good morning guys :)
@Plec, oh heck! That’s not what you want to wake up to on a Saturday morning (or any!) I hope everything is okay!! (As much as it can be)

@Plec @orbitalwalsh thank you both!!! :D :D

I believe I have connected the Psu/gpu up all correctly and used the cables I need to....

I seem to have a few spare....2xs pcie, 2xs peripheral cables, 2xs sata cable, 1xs floppy adaptor.

I also have the remaining motherboard cables left over?

@Plec @orbitalwash

Oh thank you :D I have to say it looks much better!!! (Not as good as what you guys would do but for an amateur I’m pretty impressed!)

yes, I remember you saying about the pcie cables now! Doh, I’m at a loss end though as to what do do with the 2 daisy chains? Just zip them together and hide them the best I can?

many thanks
Rich :) :)
