Hi

I will be going to OC on Tuesday for a new system I have set my mind on an i7 but it’s the other bits I am struggling on.

Motherboard
CPU cooler
Ram 6GB
PSU
Video card 295 or 5870

I know there are loads of topics on this but I am not an overclocking expert and just need some help with the above.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

keep in mind that the 5870 appears to be a pretty decent size, you havent mentioned what case you have in mind so it would be worth double checking to make sure it will fit.

The case I was thinking of the Corsair Obsidian 800d
Monitor Dell 2709W

My Budget for all the system including the above will be £1,700

i presume you have a cd/dvd rw + hard disk as you didn't mention anything about those.

If it were my choice, I'd go T260 monitor (save 200 quid for 1 inch) hardly notice the difference + exact same res and in my opinion looks better.

You can also ditch the cpu + cooler combination kit and get them seperately. e.g. air cooler

Largish ssd for OS ETC

1156 performs very well for gaming onpar or overtkaing the 920 and clocks to 4ghz easy

Asus rmapage III mobo as its a very nice motherboard and has a auto OC feature, Press 1 button and it clocks the cpu for you to around 3.5ghz.

Corsair h50 for cpu cooling but wait for the 1156 bracket to be available on 12th oct

Gigabyte gfx card ahs 3 years warrenty not 2 compared to others
Top end of the budget I know but its a killer

WOW thanks lads for the fast reply I will take a look at all this including the monitor.

heres direct link to T260 info:

heres the link to silverstone case:

watch the vid half way down the page, quite impressive imo

if you were to change the monitor to T260, you could add a blu ray player+rw to your rig + a new hard disk @ 1TB

by all means i'm not advertising anything, i'm just showing you what i've had time to read up on. HybridX gear looks pretty impressive to with that solid state HDD included

Thanks’ asoxedri I’m starting to get some ideas it was the motherboard, Ram, CPU that was giving me the problem.

The only thing that worries me is the SS hard drive I have read some bad things about them like they only last for 6 months and with being new tech was a bit worried about it. And how would this drive fit a normal HD bay?
