Both motherboards are more gaming oriented than the ASUS Pro, which essentially translates to better onboard audio and LAN features that reduce lag when gaming online. The G45 is more value-oriented, but it's not a bad board by any means. 280X versus 770 has been mentioned above: the extra GB of VRAM. If he really wants a 770 you can get them with the same coolers as the 280Xs I linked - performance will be roughly equal in present games. Battlefield 4 favours AMD, though (so the 280X or the 290). The 290 wil easily beat both in terms of performance, but it is more expensive, louder, and runs hotter.
 
Easiest way to do it is give an absolute maximum budget and an ideal budget and to list the parts you need. Do this and several balanced specs will no doubt follow shortly from any stalking forum member.

*Edit* forget ideal budget and just list maximum, as everyone will probably spec the max budget specs :D
 
Can't do this now because I'm at work, but I (we) could post a few different spec lists at different price points, then you could just decide how much you're willing to spend (and how much your son is willing to spend on top of that).
 
Sounds like your boy has a pretty good idea what he is doing. I suspect he wants the Nvidia 770 as it comes with some free games ;) The AMD 280X comes with BF4 but he has that already. BF4 does ideally want an i7 and that will help if he wants dual GPUs at some point, the game also likes fast RAM.

i7K CPU is OEM (cheaper), it has a shorter warranty than the retail (CPU failure is VERY rare to be fair) and no stock heatsink but he'll want an aftermarket cooler to overclock (run the "K" CPU faster) hence the H100.

This new Sniper mobo is awesome value for money. Good onboard audio and can run dual GPUs, I've used a 850W PSU to cover adding another GPU down the line and overclocking. Silver refers to the energy efficiency and being modular you add on the extra cables needed as required.

the seasonic g 750w should be sufficient in all those with xfire(2 cards, 3+ will require 1kw+) unless you go nuts with oc/hard disks/etc.
 
Thanks all for ur help lets say the budget is £1200 and we use the parts he gave me unless waste of money what would be the best this way he will be surprised when he has a few extra parts on xmas day then he can buy what he doesn't get just a idea
 
With a £1200 budget you can do better than a 770. Either go for a 290 (as in my £1200 spec above) or, if he would prefer an Nvidia card, go for a 780:

Hi again after looking at this 1 and the £1200 above which is the best
 
I'd go with the 780 spec. In fact, I pretty much did - it's very similar to my own. The RAM is better, the motherboard is better value, and the GPU is cooler and quieter.

The PSU and the graphics card are both on offer at the moment. The offer will end early Wednesday morning. The rest you might want to buy in stages just in case something comes up on a Today Only deal.
