You could make it cheaper with the ryzen 5 4500/5500 but the 5600 has better performance than both of these chips for not much more money.
You could get a 5600g (especially at this price) you could play most games at 1080p medium settings until you can afford to buy a better gpu.

again you could drop to a a520 motherboard but your then losing pcie 4 which can be useful for some of the newer low end gpus.

Unless you can increase your budget then a ps5 or seriesX would be the best gaming experience for that money.
OP might need the PC part for other things like office or video editing or whatever but yes, at that budget, a console does make more sense.

Thx guys.Is it worth keeping gtx 970 for mild gaming and upgrade for rest of budget £600?

Yes, I'd keep using the 970 for another year. You can then stick under the £600 budget and buy a nicer case and power supply that could last over a decade.

The other chaps are recommending in their selections GPUs that are no better, or APUs like the 5600g. The 5600g is good for certain things (I have one) but will struggle to match last consoles - its a 30fps solution @1080p. The 970 is well over twice the speed.

I stop playing Diablo 3 well over 3 years ago but Diablo 4 comming next year so is time for upgrade

If you're building your PC only for Diablo 4 then I'd consider just hanging on. Until there are some performance reviews out, it is hard to know what part to prioritise. There's a lot of new hardware due between now and Q2 2023, so you may get better value for money too.
