Hi, i will be buying a graphics card and a monitor. Going from a 17" dell tft and a 256mb 7900gs to a 22" Belinea and either a 256mb 3850 or a 512 3850...

There is £30 difference between the graphics card, i know its not that much but every penny counts since it is xmas time! I have been told that if i want to game at the 22" resolution of 1680x1050 i will need the 512mb vram. Is this true or will the 256mb be enough?

Do the higher resolutions make much of a difference in games? or would i be able to cut the resolution down and buy the cheaper card?

Thanks

For anything over 1280x1024, 512mb i would have thought is a must. I only went for the 256mb flavour of 1950pro as i only run at 1280x1024 on a 17" TFT, same as you.
When i get my new monitor (hopefully a 22" Belinea also) i will be going for the 3870XT 512mb.
