Anyone here using Nvidia 3d vision 2 glasses?

I recently tried a DK2 VR headset and didn't really get on with it. Brilliant in places with one of my games (DCS), under-par with another (ACS and only IMO) and I couldn't get it running with ED (as a result of how ancient my PC base unit is).

So instead of splurging a bunch of dosh on a headset, I redirected it to a Dell 27" Gsync monitor, which looks much better in everything.

Question for you guys, who's using Nvidia 3d and what do you think?
I've already looked at the Helixmod website, which appears to have good advice on how to optimise games for 3d.

I used mine for about maybe 3 hours total or something - its kind of cool but for a lot of games just more convenient playing normally - only games I really ended up playing much time with it was racing stuff like GRID where I was using a controller.

Did you try with Helixmods and which games did you try?

it was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent gaming wise, and i've got a DK2 and CV1.

A lot of games just dont suit it, you have to play with the lights off due to the flickering of UK lighting with the glasses and it just isn't noticeable in a lot of games if it even works at all.

Would forget I ever bought it if I didnt keep finding the glasses everytime I tidy up lol

Not tried Helixmods - don't remember all the games but I know I tried these:

Eve Online - Not very practical with the game at all and lots of text depth issues.

Batman Arkham Asylum - Played quite well with controller but I'm a keyboard and mouse player and I didn't really feel it played as well with 3D Vision versus normal when using keyboard and mouse.

GRID - (Using wheel) Worked pretty well (aside from GRID and any of the wheels I've tried hasn't been the best experience with far too sensitive steering).

Test Drive Unlimited 2 (Using wheel) - Mixed and had to sacrifice some quality settings which kind of made it look odd.

Mafia 2 - Worked ok except for some black screen issues but felt less connected to the game than playing normally with keyboard and mouse.

One of the Call of Duty games - felt like it held me back a lot in fast paced gameplay like playing in blinkers.

Gaming in 3D is awesome on my PS3/PS4, at no cost and I can sit on a comfy sofa. I still don't use it more than 7 times a year. The PC equivalent I was tempted with, but the price and the fact that I KNEW I wouldn't get my monies worth put me off.

I had it for awhile but could only use it in bursts due to eye strain.

Best games i remember using it with are
trine 1 and 2, street fighter, mafia 2 , max pain, batman games and dirt 3. battlefield games was good with it too

Up till I played native games on the Vive it was the best 3D gaming experience I've had.

Basically it transformed Skyrim for example with the depth perception in the catacomb tunnels adding hugely to the atmosphere. Plus archery became a lot more fun being able to see the arc of the arrows in 3D.

Assuming your monitor is compatible I hope it's got the Light Boost function as the glasses will drastically reduce the brightness. I never suffered much from flicker myself but I did see it in the periphery on occasion.

Most of the fixes on the Helixmod site are easy to install though some games are almost perfect but maybe one shader off or maybe the HUD depth isn't quite right which can spoil the game.

I'd have kept my glasses but the choice of compatible monitors pretty much stopped that happening.

Shame i found this thread a little late, i would have happily posted my set over to you to test to see if you liked it or not.

It doesn't sit right with me personally however i feel i hadn't set it up perfectly and didn't give my eyes correct adjustment times and such.

I can't try again currently as i don't own a high enough refresh rate monitor.

Guys I'm thinking about buying second hand 3d vision set
I have asus rog swift 27 TN,
Is 3d vision working in games:
-Dirt Rally,Assetto Corsa or Project Cars?
-Witcher 3,Rise of Tomb Raider?
-any good 3d movies? (Avatar)
thanks

Missed updating this thread myself.
Very easy outcome. With the release in the UK of the Oculus CV1, grabbed one. Awesome is a fair comment.

I wouldn't bother. I have, but no longer use, a 3D Vision monitor (27" Asus I think) and while it had an initial wow when you got it set up right (Skyrim looked quite good if a little buggy) the effect wears off. And it's a positive hindrance in FPS games.
My glasses spent most of their life gathering dust.

I don't have have an Oculus but I did buy a 21:9 monitor which has already been a far better investment than the 3D stuff.

It would only cost me 50 quid so I thought to give it a try, nobody tried Witcher 3 or Rise of Tomb Raider? First Tomb Raider suppose to work well in 3d vision.
