"Gangland" killings in Salford yesterday...

That doesn't make sense though as it was the hitmen that were killed and not the targets.

aye my bad, they were out to kill the mofo's and ended up getting killed. Everyone involved would have been armed, so i could have miss heard what i was told, but i understood it that they knew the hit was going down and waited.

Its prolly nothing to do with the Noonan's but thats what everyone round my way is saying :D

edit - everyone has guns round the Salford area though, so it could have gone down as reported!!

Anyone from Manchester should know not to cross the Noonan's :) They are from my kneck of the woods but run most of Manchester and Salford.

saw the tv show on c5 about him, guys a nut, runs a lot of different things, and somehow manages to get away without charges everytime he's arrested. Id would def never ever cross someone like him

Yeah he owns DJ Noonan Security, most pubs and clubs round here have doorman supplied by him. I know it sounds cliché but all the places with his doorman are the safest around, everyone in manc knows the gay village is the safest place to go for a drink at night and every single gay bar has Noonan doorman - it his way round of racketeering. He's not just taking money for protection he actually supplies it so its fairly legal.if you choose not to use his firm for doormen, then they usually end up in hospital and the pub in flames :(

He buys all the ex police cars too, just to wind up the local police :D

TBH he isnt what you expect from a "gangster" either, he;s openly gay, not a racist and if you didnt know how he earnt his money then you would think he was a genuine guy. I dont know him though, but i knew one of his brothers and he was just as bad :(

I'm sure some of you from the North have heard about the recent killing of two lads outside a pub and also two others who were injured...

I knew about gangs in Salford etc...but never expected to hear about something like this happening...

Basically as I understand it if you haven't heard:

A car pulled up, in which two "Hoodies" wearing balaclavas got out and went into the Brass Handles pub in Salford.

One then pulled a gun at arms length and started shooting, 2 people were hit (1 in the mouth and 1 in the stomach). Only for the two hoodies to be chased out by other guys with guns.

One of the hoodies was hit in the back, and while the other turned to see what happened was shot in the head. The one who had been shot in the back was then shot in head.

These guys then fled the scene, which lefted the driver of said car to get out walk over and collect the gun/balaclavas and cross his mate's legs.

People say that has some sort of meaning to a gang, to respect the dead or something? I dont know...

People have always called Salford, but I for one thought this place was on the up with all the renovation going on etc...

I guess not!

Hey,

I went to Salford to watch the 'reds' (rugby league) a few weeks ago and the people look cool and there was never and any trouble. There are gangs everywhere i wouldent worry about it. Most are scroats who are probably claiming benefits somewhere down the line and to kill each other is fine by me...GO GET A JOB!!

Doh and I have just moved to Manchester, im scared lol.

Very worrying though, gun crime is getting like America these days! This will no doubt add strength to the case to arm the police, but thats not for here lol

As your location says Luton shire I'm guessing you were in Luton before.
Having been in Manchester and been in Luton, I can safely say I'd much rather walk round Manchester than Luton. :p

Outside of Brixton, I cant think of anywhere worse than Salford.

You know its bad when killings have to be in numbers greater than 2 to even make middle pages of the news!

I always wonder how these people "take power", so to speak? I can see how they keep their power once established but i can never see how this sort of thing starts.....

The people in who were the targets were prepared for the hit.

The possibility of being shot at doesnt really scare these people.

That to me is what is scary... they expect it, then again they instigate it too no doubt. It's so selfish to take their issues in public areas, and threaten each other's families, children etc... Yuck it's just grim and horrid. Bloody drugs and it's industry :(

To the average joe it must be frightening... it sure as hell scares the heck out of me.

Hmm. I live in Salford, less than a mile from where this all happened yesterday. I spotted the force helicopter buzzing around the block of towers that rises out of the Salford Shopping Precinct and wondered why it kept circling that general area.

A mate of mine was round at the time and said it'd be for the Man Utd v Newcastle match. I didn't think much of this theory since Old Trafford isn't exactly next to the Langworthy estate. I later read about the shootings on the BBC News site and realised what the helicopter was doing.

Have to admit I was a bit wary about going shopping today. Needn't have bothered, it was me causing problems. I bought an ink cartridge for my printer from Wilkinson's and then went into Tesco, where I promptly managed to set the alarm off.:o Turns out that even though the security tag had been removed there was another kind inside the actual packaging.
