Hi guys - due to a wonky wall in an old house, despite the tiles being laid straight etc, there is a gap between the tile and floor in one part that an 18mm skirt won’t cover - assume the best way is some matching colour grout and hope it looks ok? The gap between tile and wall at its widest is about 3.5cm

cheers

I've filled a similar gap with decorators caulk and painted over it. Worked fine

Yep that's a canny chunk :/

Need pics really to see exactly where it is but I'd recon for a gap that big the best way would be tile offcuts.
This may then destroy the straight lines tho

Yeah, hence why we really need to see pics to advise. I've a feeling the tiler should not have left such gaps.

Yep if the tiling had been measured n planned ahead it's likely possible that with a slight tweak to the tiles there was a more equal gap around the area opposed to a massive chunk at one end

Quite how the tiler has left the job and deemed that acceptable is beyond me? Did he not coke up with any solution for it?

if there is a 35mm gap there is room to get a tile offcut in.

Will it be a 35mm gap with skirting? Or is it a 35mm gap without skirting? When you put skirting on it’ll not be so big. I’d just fill it.

Perhaps re-board out the wall where the floor is short with fresh plasterboard and plaster skim it.

I was thinking the same thing. That is gap for a tile

Sorry - it’s 35mm gap WITHOUT the skirts at the worst point.

skirts are coming next week.

so less 20mm or so will be the gap taking account of the board and adhesive - 15mm to fill

Get the tiler back, the skirting should sit on to the tile and cover any gaps.

Or you do the skirting before tiling and tile upto them leaving a uniform 2mm gap. 15mm is not acceptable. You won't find a single house where the walls or floors are perfectly square either so that is no excuse either.
