thanks guys all sound like good places to start looking, Fox did you go with the GF? and semi-pro where did you find out about the working holiday as this is something I would like to do, (I can afford a trip just having a working holiday gives you more of a purpose to be there)

I'm thinking of seeing if I could get out there for a while, I'm not a fan of the weather, but I adore seeing different cultures and I'd love to see Oz
Might even take the lady with me, I imagine the entire trip was fantastic ?

BUNAC was how I organised my visa, I could probably have done it myself but for the sake of simplicity and that it didn't cost me hugely more than the visa alone would have I went with them. That gave me a year long working visa although unfortunately I couldn't take advantage of the full year over there due to university.
My planning beyond that extended to little more than having a return plane ticket and booking the first few nights accomodation in a youth hostel, everything else just happened which was the right way for me to go but depending on the type of person you are you might find more structure and planning suits you better.
