lol took my car to get a new header/downpipe fitted alog with new struts for the front, and to cut a long story short - they couldnt do the struts because they didnt find the locking wheelnut (it was in the box with the shockers..), and my header

it seemed fine i was driving home on the motorway from the garage and then suddenly BANG ting ting ting, it sounded like a spare bolt had just gone through the suspension, followed by massive blowing from under the car... GRRRR

so i get it home, really worried about it being cracked or something, look under the car, and i have fluid leaking right above the downpipe spillig out onto the road under my car. then after a while of panic i notice that the extra rear 02 bung between the flexipipe and the cat is missing...presumed shot up-out into the engine somewhere and it has fooked some hoses and is dripping.

i also found 5 used nuts+bolts sitting on the top of the air intake bit just below the winscreen - i reckon one of them could have fallen in also,

my car sounds like its entering the chav grandprix, haemoraging fluids etc... not good.

welcome to my world :D

once you get all the bits done im sure youll have a peach. what have you got?

my car (after the trials and tribulations) is now a stormer. went to the ace cafe lastnight. 140mile round trip, it averaged over 35mpg from a 170bhp 2.0 golf gti 16v. it loved it.

keep going, youll get there

Phone them up and demand your car is picked up on the back of a flatbed and repaired FOC. Absolute cowboys! How much did you pay? What car is it?

its a nissan primera GT. i went to chorley street garage in bolton to get it done. i have had a few bits done by them before and they have alsways seemed sound as tbh. which is why ima bit gutted.its like a 20 mile trip each way and they are no open today because they are going to a Ford show @ silverstone, so cant do anything today.

i paid £70 for new header + dizzy cap and rotor install (is about right, they said the cat bolts were ultra corroded as i thougt they would be and had to br burnt outta there)

i actually managed 36mpg on the way home and was exlaming how good it was to my passenger as i cruised at 4000rpm. and then bang bang bang im leaking all over the show lol!

gimme 2 mins and i will get a piccy up of the new header

Oh dear, sounds liek a dodgy garage tbh, fitting a new header is easy, but it sounds like hey bodged it up good and proper.

What header was it, JWT or SSAuto?

its an ssac header yep. they should fix it but getting my car there and stuff would require me to have monday off work to get it sorted, so im gonna drop it off locally and see what they say diagnosis wise.

ive still got no clue what that is. is it the intake or exhaust?

are you the guy with the rather cool primera that came with a whole load of fancy bits on it?

haha makes sense now, i saw/heard a GT primera having a thrashing the other night. they have such a nice bark to them, definately a cool car.

its disgusting that they left bolts off.

Could that have been me? I've got the silver GT, HKS exhaust system, Piper cams, AGX shocks etc? (Osrry to hijack)

yea they arent a bad car, and hopefully mine should be doing better! about to go to tyre/exhaust place in town to take a look and hopefully fix as my local cant fit me in till monday:

piccy!

have they used a selection of new and old bolts?

imagine what would happen if a loose bolt made its way into the belts/pulleys.

It's a stupid mistake, but when I fitted an aftermarket exhaust manifold to my car it came with two O2 holes, I undid the nut from the one I needed and didn't even think to check the other for tightness, about 3 days it too came out while I was driving down the motorway.

heh i didnt have any heatwrap and stuff and didnt get chance to sort it out, so im hoping its okay as it is!

the good news is that my blow is fixed, the exhaust place whipped it up on the ramps we had a good look underneath, and saw the missing bung. the guy pulled a bolt off the shelf and stuck it on and tightened it up twice and said there ya go! job done. didnt even charge for it either! but he was asking how much i paid for it and where i got it from etc i told him to get onto ebay. quality place will deffo go back if i have a new exhaust to fit sometime.

it started life as SS silver and now after like 1 run its bronzed already¬

Yep, standard everything apart from that. next up is advancing the timing to 17" should give a bit more response to be used with optimax etc.

then maybe get a full SS exhaust + backbox one day. and an apexi powerintake air filter! then it should be quite nice:)
