Garage conversion

Couple of quick updates.

I went with Govee ARGB lights for the 4 ceiling lights, the coving lights, and the lights behind the light poster. The app is pretty solid so far, and it has all connected and worked flawlessly. I haven’t had a chance to play with the scenes, but should be fun when I get there!

Light check!

So nearly done. You can see the spacing on the overhead lights, I was worried the black would make it too dark, as the light doesn’t “paint” the walls and ceiling, but the levels are actually perfect (phew).

At this point it was all about trying to find a layout that works. I desperately want to preserve as large an open space in the middle as possible (both to give me space for VR and also because I hate how cluttered this space always was (every time I cleared up, someone would arrive and deposit a load more junk in it :(.

Well, we are all caught up. I have rearranged the garage layout to deal with the freezer (bane of my bl~$'y life!). I picked up matching shelves for the other side of the mural (I was going to go with closed, black, industrial cupboards, but was convinced that the open shelves fit better with the rebel base theme better :p). The light strip behind the wall PC is going to be covered in acrylic, I'm just trying to work out what combination will hide the individual LEDs, but still glow strongly enough. So far it seems like a layer of Opal, with a layer of Dark Tinted on top is best - all lifted about 5cm to allow the light to spread. The chest freezer turned out better than expected. The vinyl went on almost flawlessly, and ever the vent doesn't look too bad in preson. I may look at spraying it in the future, but at the moment I don't mind the white.

The light mural worked way better than expected. There is a little bleed in the top sky bit, but the LEDs are individually addressable, so I'll have a play and blend that out. I still can't quite believe that the frame worked - was fully expecting to spend hours creating oddly shaped parallelograms, but it worked first time! Last major bit is the doors. The wood on the wall is to cover them, and then I have some starship door vinyl coming which will hopefully complete the look.
