I have a prefab concrete garage and want to make it secure as possible.

So far I have bought and fitted a garage defender:

boarded up the glass window with 1 cm marine ply and fitted a 'cctv' warning notice.
Anything else you can think to do please? Have I missed anything obvious.
I want my mk1 escort to be as safe as possible :-/

how often do you use it, you could get some anchor points and chain it to the ground using the chassis.

A friend is looking to install some metal stutters behind his garage doors so that if anyone broke in they would have to break the locks on the shutters, and seeing as the garage is alarmed they wont have time to gain access before the alarm sounds.

Depends how much you are looking to spend on security tho.

get one of those fake cameras or actually buy one if you want to and keep a bright light outside your garage. but dont have too much security otherwise people will look more interested.
that dude was right, if they really want it and after it they will get it...

There was a story in MCN last week about thieves unbolting a garage roof and then taking the bikes inside.

some people realy will do anything to get what they want :(

I've heard of huge box section framed doors on farms having the hinges cut off with angle grinders before so people can steal whats locked behind them.. and I'm pretty sure that someone on here had their bike nicked when it was in someones inspection pit underneath a car !

I had the above defender, 2 locks and a padlock on the side door, bars on the windows, alarm and I'd chained up my bike, parked the car in front of it and drained the fuel and taken the battery out. It still got nicked. I'm afraid Cupra is right mate. You can just do your best and hope. I'd get a decent alarm (mains powered) and make sure it's VERY loud, that was my downfall I think.

By a baby monitor & put one bit in the garage & plug the other bit next to your bed at night, Bonus is getting to catch the Herberts yourself.

It's a fact that you can only make it harder for opportunist thieves in the hope that they will find easier prey. If a professional thief takes a liking to your escort then that's the last you will see of it.

Removeable posts infront of the garage door?

If possible i'd actually put them inside the garage..less obvious from the outside.
As has already been said the more obvious the security the more likely someone is to think that there is something of interest in there, so sometimes the less obvious approach can be better.

If the op hasn't already done so, i'd also put in a burglar alarm (assuming the garage has power), we've just got one for our garage because a number of the neighbours garages have been done in the past few months (although ours is right behind the house in view of the bedroom, unlike most of the ones that have been done and are in blocks away from the houses).

I think a CCTV sign will just attract unwanted attention. People would realise there must be something of value in there.
