Garage - what is a usable size?

Haha totally.

House requirements:

If it doesn't leak, and it's warm - I don't care.

Must be big enough though so that the dog and I don't want to kill each other after 5 mins.

Garage requirements:

Must be a palace.

Can't imagine the missus being happy being referred to as a dog, lol. :D

Buy a house with enough room to build a proper garage (or extend the exisitng garage), and factor in the build cost when you make your offer.

It's the only way you will get something suitable, as 99.99% of garages will be far too small, and you'll be limiting you house choices massively.

My garage is just big enough to get my S2000 in. The garage door is about 2cm from the rear bumper with the front bumper touching the back wall.
The S2000 isn't exactly a large car.

ive got 2 garages, one for the usual crap and the other for my toy. toy garage is about 20ft x 17ft and is only just big enough to actually work on the vehicle IMHO.

i really miss my garage at the flat, itwas the length of the flats the block was of 4 so it was 40ft in depth and was as 21ft wide. it was bliss but i always found i wanted more space now i have a normal single garage that i cant park a metro in lol

Having a garage where the car literally only just fits completely defeats the point of a garage for me. It's nice to have a shelter for it, but when it just about fits, it becomes a burden to use it..

The idea of building a garage additional to the home would be great, but it's factoring in that cost outside of the mortgage, planning permission etc. would be a bit more difficult than I'd like.

As said before, I'll only properly start looking for homes after Summer. This may end up taking some time, but I've also got to arrange renting out my current place, so this will all take time anyway. :)
