Looks like a cat egg rather than his own, although that may be the next step in the escalation of neighbourly warfare.Op has taken first steps and thrown poo on the roof.
My side is on the right. They have put a washing line through the fence and I have it on my side, in my garden. Is that really fine for anyone else?
Personally it would not bother me in the slightly, it doesn't affect you or your life in any impactful way.
I know that starting here, could lead to other bigger things, but wait and if it does then deal with them, but for this I wouldn't waste any time dwelling on it.
Assuming it's her fence on her property then she can do with it as she pleases. It is normally polite to give your neighbour (you) the nicer side of the fence though.
I can't really see a problem here. By all means have a polite chat to her if it bothers you. Maybe you could offer to put a hook on the other side for her to attach the line to. But there really isn't anything to get worked up about here.
In our street the general rule of thumb is we maintain the left side fence in our garden, and have the nice side. On the right we have the ugly side as our neighbour paid for it, not sure why someone would expect the nice side of the fence if they didn’t pay for it.
I've always thought it's more about the 'ugly' side of the fence being the one that you want to ensure is maintained so that the fence lasts longer, which is in your interest if it's your fence. Otherwise the neighbour with the ugly side might just neglect things like arris rails, let them rot etc. and you end up having to spend money to repair it or replace it sooner.
