Watched the original Sam Raimi Spiderman film last night and it hasn't aged well IMO, whereas something like X-Men still holds it's own today Spiderman comes across very PG like now . Maybe not such a bad thing doing a remake after all providing it's got an edge to it like the original X-Men series, First Class and Nolan's Batman films or even if it's comparable to The Iron Man series

Spiderman 2 was close to being a masterpiece but 1&3 means that it will be forgotten, pity that as DocOct was bloody well realised!

I maintain that the reason Spiderman 2 was brilliant was because the villain was comparable in skill, strength, etc to the hero. The battles felt more meaningful because it didn't feel quite so implicit that the hero would succeed.
