I have reviewed the recent gas vs charcoal thread and this isn't an extension of that topic, I know that I want a gas BBQ, whether it is considered a BBQ in the truest sense or not is not on topic please.

So with that in mind, I have a budget ranging from £400-£600, ideally a BBQ capable of handling food prep for 10+ people.

Please share your knowledge.

Avoid Outback. Weber or Napoleon are the brands to go for, look at what model in your budget has the features you need - I wouldn’t look past those two brands, each will give you years of service with excellent support and worth the extra money over the cheaper brands!

Weber Spirit would be my shout for a good gas - E-210 is pretty small but does okay when you have fewer numbers eating, E-310 is probably where you need to be for larger groups.

Well, the budget was stretched after many review readings, and a couple of local garden centre visits, Weber won the day, and we opted for a Genesis II e-310 model. Needed that extra size :)

Good choice - I think that will prove itself over the long-term to be the right investment.

Is there any fundamental difference between the Spirit and the Genesis, other than the latter being a little bit better? I can't keep track of Weber's revisions and am curious to know where the extra money goes.

I think the Genesis is a little more solidly-built, but burner-wise... same? Same-ish?

Better build materials and larger cooking area. Although the Spirit range is still very good quality.

Our last BBQ was an outback and lasted us 9 years, we got it as a hand me do when it was already at least 6 years old. The build quality of the Weber is significantly better then the outback, so my hope for 15 years out of it at least are high!

Currently using an outback jupiter 4 and am very happy with it. Plenty of space the grills have are better quality. I also like it has an integrated bottle opener on the end. The last outback i had lasted 11 years till i stopped looking after it, i was tempted by a webber but the outback was slightly cheaper and with the previous experience.
