Gas Explosion in UK

Police wouldn’t be charging people with manslaughter if they had deliberately caused the explosion.

An illegal still or botched gas installation would be more likely I think.

If the arrests are due to a dodgy gas install / rigging, the whole situation makes the grenfell tower tradgey a complete farse, public sector seems to be completely unaccountable and untouchable.

Domestic Explosion at Harold hill in Havering.
Obviously unrelated and terrorism ruled out...
Where is the 3rd gonna be.....

Gas Safe fitters beware.

Bah turned out to Be a dodgy fridge.

Have they stated what they think occurred yet?
Explosion by intent?
rival business? Or insurance?

Given that they've been charged with arson and it's a Polish business I'd go with some kind of rivalry, an area in my town now has it's own little police station because of all of the trouble between Pakistani and eastern European communities. It used to be a prodominantly Pakistani area but from what I've been told they're being driven out by the Europeans.

Should be murder if it was at all intentionality caused as part of an Insurance job. What a terrible, random and crappy way to die.

If its an insurance job you'd probably want to make sure the building wan't in use at the time or you'd be heading for a murder charge never mind a dangerous explosion. Arson is the norm for insurance jobs its slower for one thing. A old building down the road mysteriously caught fire and burnt down and almost immediately a brand new block of luxury apartments went up on the site. No-one was ever charged for it.

Not sure what's gone on here. Building destroyed by a petrol fumes explosion, petrol was apparently spread thoughout the shop and the partner of one of those charged was the shop worker killed. Possibly an arson attempt that went wrong - only meant to set fire to the place but the fumes went bang whilst one of the perps (the woman) was still in the building?

Hopefully the truth will come out in the trial.

But what on earth were they thinking with a family living above? How were they going to ensure those people upstairs got out alive and they must have known the family's home would be destroyed?

As above, scum.

Indeed,

And how setting/conspiring to set, fire to a building full of people, killing them all in the process, doesn't justify Murder charges I really do not know.

Well, sadly I do have an idea as to how the defense might argue. It is a shame that we no longer have the "Felony Murder" charge in the UK.

At least the US does some things right. :(

I don't know if you watched it, but there was a programme on Channel 4 called '24 Hours in Police Custody'. Last weeks episode featured a guy who, after getting into a drunken fight in the street, got into a car and drove at speed down the pavement with the sole intention of getting revenge on the group he'd been fighting with. CCTV actually showed him stopping on the pavement to line up his targets before gunning the motor at them. He missed them all and hit an innocent bloke going about his business. He didn't know this at the time, so he slammed it into reverse and then drove back over him and left the car parked on top of this guy. He was critically injured, including a pelvis shattered into pieces and spent the next month or so in a coma before finding out he had seriously life-altering injuries.

The cops were adamant of getting this scum for attempted murder but the CPS, spineless ***** that they are, refused and would only go for grievous bodily harm with intent. The anger of the investigating officers towards the CPS was all there on show. Some rather fruity language was used to describe the CPS in the closing section.

EDIT: Found the article about the attack on the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-43200092
