GPS speed is spot on accurate but speedos are aways slightly underread so i believe

J273 said:hmm didnt know that
so if you where doing 35 on a 30 strech and slammed the brakes on and went past at 30 ....it would still get you![]()
I see this happen all the time cars in front slamming the brakes on at the last minute
i thought after doing a bit of searching it was calibrated from the lines within the road and theres only lines on both sides if a car was to overtake another breaking the limit.
Gaverick said:They only work on one side of the road, the camera is triggered by sensors under the road before the camera. The camera doesn't record your speed it just takes two photos then they use the lines to determine your speed.
Gaverick said:Oh well, was just watching "I didn't know that" and that's what they said.

"The Gatso Radar 24 system can be based on a fixed post or temporary tripod. The system measures vehicles travelling in one or both directions as determined by the operator.
To measure the speed of vehicles, the system uses radar. High-frequency radio waves bounce off vehicles as they pass the camera; the distance covered is detected by the frequency shift from the reflection of the radio wave. If the change is higher than the rate for the speed limit, the camera will take the vehicle's picture.
The camera will take two pictures in quick succession so the distance travelled can be seen on film. This acts as a visual check to the system as the time between photos is set to correspond with the markings on the road, so speeds can be manually checked if necessary."
yes, and fwiw GPS is not spot on accurate. Only clever ones take elevation into account, so if you are moving along a steep hill the reading will be off.GraemeUK said:They are always over-rated. 0-10% showing more than your actual.
J273 said:Well it was 2 weeks last thursday since this happened and i haven't received anything as of yet.
As i was coming home from work today though i noticed the camera was having its film changed ( i think).....Which got me thinking, how do these gatso's work?
Would he take the film now back for processing the fines or when the camera takes a pic...does the image go directly to say the office for processing there and then....if you get what i mean?
sorry may be a daft question![]()
Thanks
J273 said:so if this is the first time the camera has had its film changed since when it happend theres a possibility i could get something through?
I heard you needed to have received something within 2 weeks...what do you think guys?
Thanks

Just take a chill pill dude, and even if you do get caught it really isn't the end of the world! Even when I got sent to court for doing 100mph on the M6 it didn't even change my RAC insurance premium![]()
