I'd imagine being in a minority it is quite hard to find people with common interests. Seems like a good way of meeting new people if you were gay.

They aren't being exclusive, they are just stating that their membership comes predominantly from the gay community.

From the site - 'we welcome anyone who wishes to train with us and learn good Ju-Jitsu.'

Its a bit pointless imo, but obviously a few of the founders found that they got flack from their old MA clubs for being gay so decided to start their own up. As long as they teach good MA then thats cool.....not that I will being joining

I'm not sure he was being entirely serious

Though it would be interesting to see the intersection of those people who see a gay martial arts club to be ridiculous and those who would be a bit wary of grappling with a gay chap at a regular class.

Dont think its the thought of knowing youre wrestling on the ground with a gay man, but the whole idea that they thought it was necessary to have a Gay martial arts club. Its like the Black Police Association, people would be outraged if there was a White Police Association.
