Gay Martial Arts

Dont think its the thought of knowing youre wrestling on the ground with a gay man, but the whole idea that they thought it was necessary to have a Gay martial arts club. Its like the Black Police Association, people would be outraged if there was a White Police Association.

Ok, my comment probably wasn't warranted, but they aren't excluding straight people as far as I can see. They are merely telling it like it is - a Martial Arts Club primarily of gay people.

In my mind there is a difference between this and lets say, the Black Police Assoc. because whilst Gay people share the belief that love between members of the same sex is ok, there is no intrinsically white or black belief that I know of.

Having said that, the black community have been for many years, and reportedly still are in a number of constabularies, a minority that have been discriminated against. I can't entirely disagree with people in that situation getting together to try and make a difference.

Poofs:mad: I've a good mind to go there & slap them all up, but they'd probably batter me around the ring.

who would be a bit wary of grappling with a gay chap at a regular class.

It shouldn't be any different than say a straight man and woman <who don't have sexual feelings for each other> grappling with each other as part of a class.

Unfortunately most people probably think it is different however and from that point of view I can perhaps understand why a gay guy may feel he won't fit in at a regular club and why there may be a place in the market for a club like this.

Agreed, this was the point I was (roundaboutedly) trying to make.

I've done some grappling, and the positions a person can get in can be embarrassing. You don't actually notice when doing it, only when watching it. Plus isn't Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 'like the gayest sport in the world' :D Vid somwhere.
