Gazza back on the booze

Not much of a surprise really. He's never really got clean off the booze but at times did seem to be heading in the right direction so lapses like will come round fairly often. Shame as he was such a great player.

You don't think they can ever be cured then?

Cured? Its a state of mind, not a disease. If you want to change your life, stay off the drink. Its not like he has cancer.

Rehab and some medication is the best thing for hardcore drinkers.

Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. If you start making just one excuse to have alittle drink, you start making an excuse every day.

Theres a huge difference between enjoying a drink and needing a drink. Theres so many Misconceptions About Alcoholism.

Nice. What a pleasant person you are.

Some people, really. Ignorant to the downright unpleasant.

Sorry? I'm allowed to have such an opinion on a man who battered his wife in front of their children multiple times and squanders his fortune on drink and drugs. He is a horrible man who doesn't respect even himself. Yet he's 'such a legend' and 'a right larf' (how everyone was tittering and musing over when he tried to talk 'his mate' policeman-shooting Raoul Moat down, well funneh!).

Believe me, there is a reason I have such a low opinion of him. The only ignorant and unpleasant one here is the guy who forgets what kind of a person Gazza really is.

Thats certainly a viewpoint.

On the other hand Gazza was a much troubled child who watched his best friend die but had no mechanism to express his grief so he developed numerous OCD type issues.

Of course that means nothing if you are just a lad in the "toon' on a saturday night. Different if you become "Gazza"

At an early age his football took over and we all saw the rest. The "man child"
and the associated behaviour. Its ok when you are at the top of the tree. Not so much afterwards.
