I go insane if there's no background noise, tv or music is a must for me. Hence why I hate librarys, far to quite.
Same with me! Not only when revising, but if im just sat at the computer ive got to have some music or the TV on.

This isn't me trying to act all cool, but I didn't revise for GCSE's.

similar thing here although instead of revising for RE i just wrote some ridiculous answers thinking it was funny :o :( , well it was impossible for me to get a C anyway and id of been beaten for not turning up

scraped Cs in all the others

learnt from college that the worst thing for revising is doing it at the computer . too many distractions on the internet

best to sit somewhere quiet and read written notes or something

clearly not
How old are you, out of curiosity? My point being you are clearly of an age of that you haven't had to work hard to achieve anything you wanted, or you just don't care. I assure you if you want to achieve goals as you get older (And I'm a right whippersnapper round here) it gets a lot harder and without revision you will fail to succeed.

Because, no offense, you have already showed you arn't a genius.

I finished school last week and I am now on Study Leave, luckily my school puts on a lot of revision sessions daily so that isnt really a problem but its just I really struggle to concentrate with any form of work at home.

I have my first exam on Thursday, R.E and I havent done any revision yet.

As people have already said, English, Maths and Science are a must for most colleges.

I need 4 C's to get onto the IT Technical NVQ Level 3 course I have applied for.

A) im aware that it gets harder without revision, hence i wouldn't advise anyone to try AS/A2 without revision

B) i know i'm not a genius, but at least i don't try to insinutate that i am better than people because of their somewhat mediocore GCSE's

I would disagree. Unless you got straight A* grades, you cannot really say it is pointless. You might have got straight A* grades had you revised.

Angus Higgins

it was pointless, i got the grades i needed for college, so my GCSE's really dont matter anymore ;)

I finished on Friday (11/05/2007), and I begin revision tommorrow.

I will be revising Religious Education and also English Literature.

The problem for me is that my targets were high, and I want to get better (and should get better) than my targets. It is a big thing to do though, and I really need to work for it.

One thing that annoys me is when you hear everyone else saying that they are revising every hour of the day, but I suppose it is the results that matter.

I am hopefully looking forward to the day (August 23rd) when I can say to the people who have spoken to me about not revising as much as "<insert name>" (there are many people) that I have got better results.

I wish good luck to all who are taking their GCSEs at the moment, and hope that you all find a good way to revise.

One thing to do is to visualise what you want to happen on results day, and then make sure it does happen.

I see. However, that isn't what you said earlier:

Some people on the forum may be less intelligent than yourself and the fact that you are saying its easy to get the grades you got might put them down if they are currently struggling. I'm not sure if you are implying that I think I am better than anyone or not, but I haven't listen my own GCSEs, and that certaintly hasn't been any impression I'm trying to give.

Felt GCSEs were a bit pointless as I was basically trained well to do well in them if that makes sense.

So I didn't really have a weak subject and got 8 A*s and 1 A with pretty much minimal revision. A levels were much tougher but again, School was very good. and I came out with 3 A's and 1 B at A levels and an extra A in further maths at AS.

Edit; No way did I sit around and get these. You really do need to put in hours. Also those who think anything less is acceptable because that is all that is needed to get into college or uni are basically accepting mediocrity (sp?)

listing my own GCSE's was no attempt to belittle anyone and i apologise if it has, it was merely an attempt to legitamise the remark that followed, also, by belittling my grades (which in all but one account were higher, in some cases by 2-3 grades than those that had been predicted weeks before the exams (which also supports my 'hypothesis')) you have contradicted yourself

Oh you pleb :p

I said it to make out what it might feel like to read your post if you were aiming to achieve lesser grades. Wasn't an attempt to belittle you in the slightest, but I guess I didn't make that too obvious :)
