Hi GD detectives, I need a little help in trying to track down a nusaince call centre that is constantly harassing my wife's mobile phone.

She has tried TPS, ignoring the phone when it is a 01477 (Holmes Chapel) number. I have tried to tell them to remove her number from the databases, nothing is working. Only other thing to do is try and complain to the authorities which of course will probably result in sweet FA being done.

Now the company is using Holmes Chapel numbers and my google fu isn't quite up to the job of identifying this company by address or name and this is where I am asking for the GD detectives to use their combined skills and find me a company name and address so I can go and visit them in person as Holmes Chapel is only down the road from me. (That is of course if they are actually based in Holmes Chapel). I am sure the local press would love to run a story on them.

A small list of the numbers they are using are

01477 772601
01477 772294
01477 772474
01477 772687
01477 772212

The number changes regularly but it is always 01477 77XXXX (the last 4 digits change very regularly)

and they call my wife at least 2 times a day with PPI and insurance scams.

Can you help ?

Thanks

Or block them on her handset....

The number changes, that list is a very short list of the last 2 days. She would have to block the entire region of 01477 77XXXX to do this, if that is even possible.
She has been auto reject listing them as they come in, perhaps they will run out of numbers soon, one can only hope.

There isn't much just from searching the numbers tbh.

Yeah that is where I came unstuck, just some reported issues of people getting nuisance calls from them and that is it. It has been going on now for over 2 months.

Would BT give out information on a company name and address if I asked them ?

Calling the first number is answered by an answer machine as AMS Nationwide.

A google then reveals this - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ams-Nationwide/1517161728562755

mmm, interesting thanks. Gives me something to work on for fun.

Searching Google, it appears they have a call centre in Holmes Chapel :)

Now got the directors names etc etc etc. Small company operating head offices in Bootle / Liverpool and running regional call offices in Holmes Chapel, Chester, Wilmslow, Northwich and other places.
Scumbags.

Plus this isn't just for her. I would cheerfully help out in helping get these people shut down. I get nuisance calls as well (not from these) and they irritate the Hell out of me because my work is very focused. It's like an hour block of concentration as I work through a project plan or review some code, followed by a break (and arguing on GD ;)). If someone calls in the middle of that, I lose far more than just the minute or so it takes to answer, find it's a scam call and tell them to insert a cactus up their urethra. I lose minimum ten minutes work as I try to get back into what I was doing.

To the OP - has she tried spinning them a long for a bit and following the money? Don't give them real info, obviously, but try to find out a company name or address? At some point they're going to have to hand over something that provides a lead.

Got the company name thanks to poster above.
It is AMS NationWide based out of Bootle Liverpool with offices over the Cheshire area. They blatantly advertise call centres workers to call residential customers to discuss claims for injury.

"...............AMS Nationwide are looking for young people, aged 16-24, who would like to take the first steps on a career in a fast moving and dynamic.................."

Soooooo they haven't heard of equality in the workplace either.... they could get strung up for putting an age restriction on a job advert. Obviously full of ethics this place.

I'm wondering when I'll reach my iPhone's blocked caller limit, I seem to add a few of these numbers every other day.

I make a point of wasting their time though before hand.

Yea, that must be due to the new NLW, so you can guarantee they are only paying NMW

Who else are you going to complain to, phone company and Offtel?

I remember some guy on watchdog once played along gave them a lead and then sent the compny an invoice for using up his time. The invoice was eventually paid but his number was quickly removed from any database they had. And ypu should register a complaint with TPS i know you think it will achieve fa but if the government does have power to close these companies down for good.

Ok so the dialler can make any number it wishes appear. That's illegal but many crappy sales operations are illegal in their actions. A few years ago my wife was having the same problem all day and night. I made it a police mater and they traced the calls and solved the problem. In her case it was actually a business run by students out of keele university!! After police intervention it stopped in an instant.
