I missed the postman delivery in the snow thread, god knows how.

But after reading the entire thread, a vote from me !

Im just off to get some air now.

Now that's funny. Joke's on them though, instead of wasting £4K per year for three years, I'm earning 3 times more than that. Getting kicked out of that place was the best thing that ever happened to me :D
Are you bragging about getting turfed out of polyversity and earning (at least) £12k a year?

Kind of missing the point of going to Uni there, ain't ya?

Unless of course you were doing a crap degree.

Huh? What point? I don't care about getting a degree. You don't need a degree to live a decent life/have a career.

Oh, and I don't know if it was a crap degree; Computer Systems and Networking, BSc Hons, is that crap?

While I agree that you don't need a degree to be a success in life I wouldn't be nearly as lax about getting kicked out as you seem to be. It doesn't matter if you wanted the degree or not, not getting a degree after almost your entire life leading up to one is a massive game changer.

I guess it also depends massively on the field of work you've gone to. I can't think of anything more difficult than going into a large business/organization at an entry level without a degree. Unless you've got some very valuable skills or are very lucky I can imagine your life being easier with a degree of some sorts to fall back on.

You've then got the "problem" of seeing people you knew from school coming out of uni as graduates and starting on sometimes twice what you earn. That makes your "I'm debt free with 40k saved up" argument seem a bit weak (especially considering that in all likelihood you won't have saved a 1/4th of what you earn)

I don't think getting a University is necessarily the right or wrong thing to do, it is just the path some people choose to take through life

Excellent post Joshy. I totally agree with all your points.

I'm very lucky to have gotten this job. They said they'll continuously increase my salary based on my performance which sounds great. Some of my colleagues have moved up to 25K after working there for a couple of years. So yeah, I'm happy.

Seriously, why are we discussing my future and/or career in this thread? :p
