While I am perusing the various new[ish] ATI stuff, I noticed that powercolor have 2 identically named 3870 x2 cards.

Hoever there is a £50 difference in the price [149 - 199 after vat]. The only difference is that the MORE expensive uses GDDR3!
I thought that GDDR4 was the "better"/newer memory, so why the massive difference in price?

Anyone know?

Get the GDDR4 one will be better and costs less. The shop probably got the GDDR3 versions before the 487*0 came out so are trying to get near what they paid for possibly :S

Thanks, I had seen GDDR4 was faster, but that most people were moving straight to GDDR5. It made me wonder if there had been a problem with GDDR4.

GDDR4 came in overpriced and under performing. Sure, it was better than GDDR3 but by the time it was viable GDDR5 came out and ATi scrambled to use that instead.
