I'm not quite sure what you're getting at but I wouldn't necessarily define a hipster simply as someone who hangs around an apple store nor would I say it is a necessary trait.
Actually in this case the videos provide a much clearer explanation (just as some pictures of chavs provide a better description than a written description) - though I did provide you with a written definition too and no I haven't defined hipsters as hanging round apple stores... though if you were to go to an apple store I'm sure you'd see a few - and yes some would likely be in skinny jeans with thick black glasses.
If you go to camden town you might find some goths... this doesn't imply that all goths are defined by hanging round camden town or that everyone in camden town is a goth - DUCY?
Hipster is just a loose generalisation to fit a group of people as per any other - chav, goth, emo, jock etc..etc... if you're going to argue that its a loosely defined term then, well, no **** - of course it is but no more loosely defined than any of those other terms for describing different subcultures...
nowadays CBBC is more likely to put forth anti bullying messages but back in the day they openly mocked 'anoracks' - thick glasses, neck brace, anorack, lots of badges, keen to 'know' things...
Hah - more fun to make it print in random locations on the screen (clearing every, say 30 prints) and play random frequency bleeps to gather attention. That was my style.
