Im new to PC gaming and bought Far Cry 3 yesterday, when i have everything turned all the way up i can only get 23 FPS, is it time for an upgrade or am i doing something wrong?

my specs are i5 2500k @4.5ghz
Asus GTX 670
8gb Ram
 
And turn some settings down... FC3 is demanding.

Try MSAA 2x, turn Post FX down and shadows down.

Should improve performance a lot.

Turn vsync off as well.
 
Crytek has a reputation for being extremely demanding with system specs for new releases. A GTX670 will likely not be enough to run at full detail - you;d either have to spend on multiple GPUs or wait until later when technology catches up with the game requirements and upgrade then
 
Thanks for advice, iv turned MSAA down to 4 and its now at 44 FPS which is a lot better, i wont bother with driver incase it messes up my other games, can anyone help with what setting i should use for SSAO method?
 
Havent played the game my self, but from benchmarks it looks like you can max the game at 1080p 4xmsaa with a 670 and get around 45fps.


Use the latest beta drivers as they specifically deliver performance for Far Cyr 3.
 
I hate these new betas but they do give massive gains in Far Cry 3. For single cards/screens, they are highly praised.
