Geforce 3080, 3080ti and 3090 compatibility

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my two 1080ti for the new 3000 series and I'm currently in between the 3080, 3080ti and 3090. My main question is if these would be fully compatible with my system and if they'd fit inside the GPU slots since the 3000 series are quite larger than the previous ones. Initially, I'm looking to get two new GPUs to replace the 2x1080ti I have atm but if that turns out to be a bit too much for my current rig I might go with one of the superior end of the series like a 3080ti or 3090.

My current rig has:

AMD Ryzen™ 7 1700X, S AM4, 8 Core, 16 Thread,3.4GHz, 3.8GHz Turbo, 16MB Cache, 95W

ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO, AMD X370, S AM4,DDR4, SATA3, M.2 (PCIe/SATA), 2-Way SLi/CrossFire,GbE

2x EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING11GB GDDR5X VR Ready Graphics Card, 3584 Core,1556MHz, 1670MHz

NZXT S340 Elite Desktop Computer Chassis, Mid Tower,Side Window, HDMI, 2x USB 3.0, mITX/mATX/ATX

The rig is actually for video editing and 2d/3d animation which involves quite a lot of rendering but my guess would be that the general rule of thumb would be the same as for gaming? Meaning one 3090 would be a better deal than the 3080ti or 2x3080 or 2x3070ti?

Even if I get the 3090 which is physically the biggest of them all do you think it would fit all right inside the chassi considering I'll be replacing 2x1080ti for one 3090?

Yeah...I'm not sure the 3090 price would be entirely worth it, seems like a 1x3080ti might be more than enough for me atm. I mean you're right @FlyingFish buying the 3090 because it can get sli or Nvlink would mean a whopping £5.2k (give or take) just for the gpus.

Sticking to one 3080ti and maybe upgrading my CPU like @Harlequin suggested seems like a much better way to go.
