GeForce 560 Ti Problem :'(

heyy all,

its fairly grimm times, my MSI 560 Ti i got 5 days ago keeps crashing in my system, it only seems to happen when i play games, so it must be the GPU?

my specs are:

2GB DDR2
CORSAIR TX 650
MOBO UNKNOWN, its a retair acer desktop upgraded,
AMD ATHLON X2 4400
WIN XP PRO
AND LATEST DRIVERS FROM NVIDIA


what could my problem be? i play the game for a few minutes, then the creen freezes, and the sound loops, could it be drivers? or my old system? im pretty sure its not my PSU as asustek calculates my system to only use 350 watts...
any ideaS?!?!? i really wanna get this sorted as i did only just get the card :/ i never had these problems with my Radeon 4670 :/

Sounds like either a driver issue or a dodgy card. Have you tried uninstalling all the drivers (nvidia and ati) then using driversweep?

Tbh, your cpu is going to hold that gfx card up quite a bit.
 
yeahh, i just realised that on msi's site, they have the 266.44 drivers, and the newest are 266.66, so ill try updating the drivers tommorrow, but whats this 'driversweep' as i kinda forgot to uninstall the ati drivers in the excitement :P so i had the drivers on there when i had the 560 Ti in my pc, then i unninstalled the ati drivers as best as i could, and i know the cpu is holding the 560 back a lot but, im ssaving for a phenom 840 and a new board and ram,

so should i uninstall the current nvidia drivers then use this 'driversweep' and then install the new ones??
 
yeahh driversweep is a very good tool for getting rid of left-overs from old drivers. I used it when I had mix of ATI and nVidia drivers on my PC. Worked like a charm! let us know how it goes, I was interested to buy 560Ti but I heard there was lots of problems with pre-OCed cards and drivers :/
 
download driverwseeper, uninstall everything, reboot into safemode, run driversweeper and delete all traces of both Ati and NV drivers, reboot, install latest drivers
 
well, i installed the 266.66 drivers this morning, no luck, 15mins into metro 2033 and it crashed, only this time i could get task manager up to exit it, it seems to be the actuall games that crash not the PC, and in mafia 2 my player went bright yello, the doors,pictures and NPC'S went yellow to, my car went pitch black :/ then it froze after 10mins, i put the clocks back to 820/1900 and it still frooze, so not a bad overclock from MSI :/ ive just installed the beta 267.26 drivers from nvidia and havent yet tried it, this installation took a lot longer than the other 2 drivers did?? i havent tried it yet as ive gotta edit some posters in photoshop quickly, if it still freezes after should i RMA it???
 
I think you should probably take your card to a friend's and test it on his PC and see if the same problem occur.

No offense, but your current PC is VERY old...and slow and you don't seem to even have a proper branded motherboard. If you had asked, people will tell you it would be a bad idea to pair a GTX560 up with it, as the Athlon X2 would bottleneck the graphic cards big time, and most likely won't get above 4850/GTS250 speed.

On the sidenote...you do have all the PCI-E power connectors connected to the GTX560 right? 4670 doesn't require additional external PCI-E power if I remember right, and it is not the first time I've see people plugging only one PCI-E connectors into a card that require two of them...
 
I would take the card to a friends to see if it works, but i have the best pc out of all m,y mates, as they are the kinda people to spend any money on pc's, but i just installed dead space 2 and got a good 20mins on it and then had to come of as i had other things to do, also before i went on dead space i locked the fan speed at 100%, and i know i put two pci connectors in the power, but when i had to RMA my TX650 they sent me a nother 650 but it had no fan sticker, the Sticker that went on the PC was warped and the connectors dont have those locking things on, so one could have came loose when i put my pc back together, im planning on uppgrading my system to A phenom x4 in 2 months (and a mobo+ram) so then i can put win 7 on, hopefully the problems solved :/
 
okay, after it crashed again, i decided to take it apart and have a look, and the crad looked okay, untill i took it out and droppped it on the floor -.- lol its okay though, it wasnt a high drop, just like a foot :P and checked the card over, no obvious problems, cleaned the clots, and put it back in, and because im using one of those converter things to VGA, i took it off to clean, and thought i'd best use the one MSI gave me, (just incase it was that) and i loooked closesly at then and the pins on the converter for my old xfx 4670 was different to the ones on the MSI, (the msi had less) and nowww it all works :P i was on metro for about an hopur with no probs, just done a 15 minute test on 3dmark and it ran the whole way through with no problems, when i got the card i didnt think using msi's vga adapter would make any difference?!?1 but i suppose it was my nooby mistake :/ the card was running at about 40C when i came out of that metro session so im going to assume it was either two things: the old XFX VGA Adapter caused the issues, OR it was the drop that fixed it ;) hehe :P so theres a lesson to be learnt, use what the manufacturers give you... they give it to you for a reason... :D

Glad you got it sorted ,Its the smallest things you overlook sometimes eh :D
 
id be very surprised if changing the DVI/VGA adapter solved the problem, as all that does is change the signal the card has sent out, it doesn't matter to the card once the signal has been sent.
It was probably the refitting or maybe even the drop that sorted the problem, anyway glad to hear its all working.
