I have to ask - has anybody else here with an 8800 GTX had the following problems:

It seems for me that my 8800 GTX will do that squeal/whine when shut down and then again when started again (assuming not switched off at the mains). It does not affect the graphics card during normal operations (although for me it seemed to make the POST screen complain of a CPU fan error) and it has had the exact same problems with both of my PSUs (a 480W Tagan TG480-U01 and an 800W Tagan Dual Engine).

Try unplugging out one of the PCI-e. It screams its head off, my money would be on the PSU pulling the plug to early. I don't get any beeps.

Na I decided to box it up and return it to the place of purchase. I'm convinced the card must be at fault given it has done it with two different PSUs now. ;)

Don't be surprised if the new one does it. Lowdog from that NV thread replaced his and the new one did the same. Maybe it's something from the motherboard design.

Aye I've pondered over that issue myself in the past hour or two. I think if it is returned without a hitch I'll hold off for a while to see how this issue pans out.
