Hi all,

I plugged a new GPU in my computer and its causing some issues.

First boot up after install it went into a boot cycle stopping at B2 then rebooting over and over.

Then it somehow decided to get over this and now just hang at B2 for 30 seconds or so before booting into Windows.

My user profile was then corrupted and Windows created temporary profiles for me.

I hit shift + reset to enter trouble shooting

I did a boot up repair which stopped the temporary profiles

Now however all admin functions gave an error message

I then tried to restore windows but it stoppes at 8% saying something went wrong

After this it goes into infinite reboot loops

I then get Windows dvd out and try to reinstall, but it refuses to boot from dvd or enter setup

Then I plug my old GPU back in and everything is honky dory.

I never expected a great GPU to cause all these issues what can be causing it?

I considered PSU but it's a 750 watt and all sites say a 600 should be enough

Is it a GOOD 750W cpu or is it a tin can? Has it been installed correctly and what card was it replacing? Don't understand why a gpu would cause the issues you speak about however pc's can be hard to understand sometimes.

I reinstalled windows 7, instead of windows 10.

Then swapped cards.

The machine now boots, but it still holds on B2 during boot sequence for about 30 seconds before it beeps loudly then enters Windows. B2 isn't even shown on screen when using my old card.

Not sure what to do, it's like there is something dodgy with the GPU.

I'll try that next

MSI Z68A-GD55-G3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Is the motherboard

Downloaded MSI liveupdate, and it states the board has the latest version of the BIOS.

Have you installed the chipset drivers for the motherboard and Intel Management Engine Driver ?

I used MSI's liveupdate tool and it tells me all the latest drivers are installed?

I also have no idea what Intel Management Engine Driver is for?

I would say it's the bios. Is your ver the latest one confirmed on the MSI website rather than on the software?

Edit: I see on the website the latest bios has remained unchanged since 2013.

Having read a bit more, basically my motherboard doesn't support newer GPUs. So options are return the GPU or Flash the BIOS with a Beta version.

Also, get rid of the Live Update app soon as. You're lucky it told you BIOS was up to date (whether correctly or incorrectly) because you don't want to risk using Live Update to BIOS flash. Use M-Flash from within BIOS, after placing the new BIOS on a USB pen drive so you can select it using M-Flash.

Flash the beta version, or buy a newer mobo.

Flashing the mobo is pretty easy and safe to do. There are many YouTube videos on exactly what to do.

That worked, the bootup doesn't hang and i'm now installing the GPU drivers, a different speed is running on the fans now though causing a bit like a low down growl out of the machine!

Sorted fan noise.

Now onto the two last issues.

When I installed the GPU the mouse started stopping working every now and then, and if sound is on you hear the USB device system noise as if the cable is being plugged in and out.

Then finally the Realtek HD audio manager was installed with all the other drivers once I reinstalled the BIOS and got all the MSI drivers down. Which has now turned off all my sound..... I use an audio jack from the headphone port to the audio jack port on my Sonos system to playback sound. Which has worked perfectly. I think I had this problem once in the past, where it was fixed to only outputting Digital sound, but I can't find an option to change it to Analogue.
